Glock 29 - stock or modified?

For a carry gun, I've always assumed that keeping it stock is best - especially glocks. However, it seems that modifying the glock 29 (and 20) is pretty common.

I've heard both sides of the story - aftermarket barrel for stuff like DT ammo, heavier recoil spring assemblies, etc. Would it matter much if I kept my 29 stock and still used the full power stuff for carry purposes? Isn't the 29 designed to shoot full power 10mm?

How do you guys carry your g29s - stock or modified?

DT will do just fine from a stock gun. I wouldn't shoot 200 rounds of DT every range trip but it shouldn't be a problem for carry and shooting DT part time at the range.

The Glock barrel will handle DT's. I have seen where a lot of people used a stronger recoil spring in a 10mm. You can try one and always go back to the stock spring if you don't like it.

Now if you reload you might want a LW, KKM or other after market barrel.

I just got a G29SF. I'm basically keeping it stock except for a few things like sights, mags and ammo. I bought a bunch of G29 mags w/Pearce extensions, a couple of G20 15rd mags and about 500 rounds of DT 165g GD for carry. My practice/plinking load is Georgia-Arms 165g 'Canned Heat'. Also, I swung a good deal ($175) on a mint, like new Lasermax which I wouldn't have bought except for the deal. Mine came with the base stock sights and I swapped those out for Ameriglo Pro Operators (green front/yellow rear). Oh, and I did buy a Wolff 22lb recoil spring but I haven't put it in yet. I"m going to see how she does with the stock spring. As for a barrel change, I'm staying stock and since I got the Lasermax, I won't be buying a steel guide rod unless it fails. If I do get an extra barrel, it will be to play around with some .357 SIG, 9x25 Dillon or for some cheaper .40 ammo for plinking but that's way down on my list.

For bling, it's a Glock so I don't see myself putting any fancy/colored parts on it. I may polish the barrel since it's cheap and easy but that's about it.

Right now I carry it in a MTAC but I may splurge on some leather for it (VMII?).

Overall I love it. Good luck with yours and have fun shooting the 10mm. It's a blast.

nice report on your 29 Wasabi. It really is an awesome gun - I've only shot some of the watered down stuff I picked up from the shop.

I guess I'll keep it completely stock except for NS. I'll get a new barrel for my handloads, and just keep a spare recoil spring/rod around.

I have a Glock 29 for my carry gun. Only thing I did was get a 22lb Wolff spring, non-capture guide rod, and Pearce grip extensions for my mags.
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.
