Kel-Tec P3AT magazine release sticks out

I was looking at the Kel-Tec P3AT and it would seem that the mag release could be a problem. It sticks out pretty far and I was wondering if anyone has had the mag pop out while carrying. If you had this happen, how were you carrying? Front or back pocket? Holster?

When I first got my P3AT I was having accidental mag releases when carrying in my back pocket. Yes I was sitting on the firearm, and yes it was inside a holster. I never had an accidental mag release while carrying in my front pocket though.

So, to stop this event I simply pilfered an emory board from my wife and reduced the height of the mag release. Viola, no more accidental mag releases.

    Hope that helped.

I had continual problems with my P32 until I took a wheel and my Dremel to it. I just kept taking small amouts off and carrying for a day. I quit when I went a day without accidently releasing the mag. Then after a few days of no more problems I took a polishing wheel and put the finishing touches on. Worked perfectly for the next 15 months or so until I sold it. As far as I know the new owner has had no problems.

    Kel Tec P-11

I am a new member here and I own a Kel-Tec P-11 that has released the clip twice while carrying in a IWB holster. I think it is my body pressing against the mag release so I have to check the clip when I exit my vehicle.

    AMga release

I carry in my right rear pocket in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster that is ancient and flat and worn out. I never had an issue on that side, but the mag releaase is protected by the padding of my butt. If I carry it in the left rear pocket, occasionally I find that the magazine releases if I sit on a hard surface or something.

If it's a BUG, you're not likely to need a speed reload, right? Dremel the magazine release down.

I've had my mag pop out on multiple occasions while back pocket carrying in a nemesis pocket holster.

For the guy who said he has an IWB, which one are you using?

I would accidently bump the mag release while shooting the P3AT. A file cured the problem.

I like that I can use my Dremel and fix if it is a problem. I put my name down for either a P3AT or an LCP. I figure if the Keltec comes in before the LCP I'll snag it up.

    Thanks everyone for the info.

I did that this past weekend and I'm glad I did; no more worries about accidental magazine release.
