My dad had one for years till he traded it, which he still regrets today. Fine firearm, carried and worked fine.
I know not what this "overkill" means.

Honing the knives, Cleaning the longguns, Stocking up ammo.

I actually had a 230 for about 15 trouble free years, and then sold it to a co-worker. I regretted the sale so much that I ended up with two ss 232 pistols...yes, I only need one.

Let me know if you want one. If you are in South Florida, we can work out a deal.

Guess I'm not the only hard-core P232 lover on here!

You can get a smaller, lighter .380, and you can surely get a cheaper one, but IMHO the P232 is one of the finest pistols ever made, period. Mine is stainless, and is a gem of a gun. I've had a PPK/s, and have a Beretta M84, but I like the P232 the best. The M84 is comparable in quality, but is too fat for practical CC in a lot of situations. Never had an M85 to compare. I really liked the PPK/s, too, but the SIG gets top honors.

    Recommended without hesitation!

    Regards,
    Jim

Agree on the Beretta, but sold my Nickel Plated Cheetah and never looked back. It was a cool pistol, but larger than an Officers 1911.

I've had a blued P230 forever and never had a single problem with it. I think you've made a wise choice.
