I posted some time ago that I was getting a new XD. It ended up being EXACTLY what I wanted, an XD .40 Service model, two toned, silver slide and black frame.
I was very happy with it. Still am. But in the thread where I posted about my new gun, SIXTO posted this:
Except the thing is, He was right!!
I am now back to carrying the Glock 23 full time. Here's why: while I love the XD, there is just something about it I can not mentally get past. It is physically bigger than the Glock 23, and holds one less round. I don't know why but that grates at my mind.
Plus, since it is bigger, it is a littler harder to carry. It certainly is harder to conceal.
Just thought I'd let SIXTO know, he was right and I hate that.
Man that has to hurt.
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Your a big man to admit it.
Once you go Glock...you may vacation a bit, but you'll always come back!

My G27 has always been my primary carry over the XDsc, but I know how you feel. I like the XD, but I feel more comfortable with the Glock, plus it's easier to conceal and carry.

Maybr SIXTO will take the high road on this.
Then again, maybe not!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the "mental block" is the wacky unnatural Glock grip angle. You must have gotten use to it with the Glock and now any normal handgun feels strange to you....sorry you to hear it! Hard to come back once you drink the coolaid.

Don't worry Mike. We all know what a big hearted guy SIXTO is and he would never tell you "I told you so!".
Sure we do *cough cough*.
Now all you have to do is ditch the Glock and get a Sig!

TN_Mike, it happens. I've got a XD 45, and as much as I love the gun, I know there will be a time that I will be getting a smaller pistol to use for concealed carry. I don't think I'll ever part with the XD 45 seeing as I think every person should own a 45 (or every caliber for that matter), but I just don't think it will be my concealed carry pistol. I haven't decided exactly what I am going to do though.
I don't know, can we really afford to make Sixto's head any bigger?

The XDs are nice guns, but Ive never been able to get over how top-heavy they seem.
