    Please give me suggestions...

I will try to make this short. Like many here, I am a police officer. Anyway, my department currently has the policy that I am only allowed to carry my issued weapons for off-duty carrying. I am currently issued a 9mm Sig p226 and a 9mm Sig P239.

Obviously I usually carry my P239 when off-duty for concealability reasons. However, my agency is in the process of changing the policy to allow for us to get ONE personally owned handgun approved for off-duty carry (assuming you are able to qualify with it).

I currently have a glock 26 which I love and can conceal better than my P239, plus get 2 more shots. I have also been looking hard at the "pocket guns", probably a .380.

Would you guys get the 9mm Glock 26 approved or get a "pocket gun" approved just to have that option for dead of summertime concealability? Thanks for your help.

I am not a police officer, but I would go with the Glock. Just because in your position, you might be expected to act and having a gun with a bit more umpf may save your life.

You can only have ONE off-duty handgun?

    That doesn't seem right.

Since you've got two 9's, I'd probably go with the Ruger LCP.

I think you should go with the G26.

I can only get ONE personally owned handgun approved for off-duty carry. That would give me three choices counting my P226 and P239

No question, the G26 and bigger pockets if need be.

If it were me, I'd get a pocket gun of some sort. You've got your bases covered then.

My dept only allows .38 special or more.

If you need a gun, especially a smaller gun, you need it right then, right now.

My backup is a KelTec PF9.
Its an 8 shot 9mm that hides really well. You might look into that.I'd take a 9mm over a comparable sized .380 any day.

Stick with that g26....and buy a good concealable holster and some G19 and G17 mags for reloads. Maybe spend the money you would for a new gun buying high end carry gear...and ammo of course.

Don't really have much experience with them to be honest with you. Always grew up shooting autos and have ever since. There is something un-comforting to me about only have 5-6 shots

I think the G26 with a good IWB holster and you should be good.

As a diehard sig fan, since you already have two, I say the Glock. The specific model is up to you. I like the Glock 30...but Im a .45 fan too, but the G26 is an incredible concealed carry weapon.

    ckfarris, welcome to the forum...

I carry a Glock 27, but also have a Ruger LCP for my "lite-carry" pocket gun. Here's my take, you already have a very good carry gun in the Sig 239 that is very close in size to the G 26. Here's a comparison:

    239
    L 6.6"
    H 5.1"
    W 1.2"
    B 3.6"
    WT 29 oz

    G 26
    L 6.3"
    H 4.1"
    W 1.2"
    B 3.46"
    WT 19.75 oz

I would go for the pocket .380, I am very pleased with my Ruger LCP. It is very accurate for a pocket gun with basically minimal sights.

With all the respect I can muster for a man in uniform, putting his life on the line daily, I would recommend you go with the G26. It's an incredibly dependable weapon, easily concealable IWB, OWB, or ankle. Am I partial to the G26 for any reason....YUP...it happens to be my primary concealed carry! I just finished putting over a 1000 rounds thru it in two days and it performed without a hiccup. JMHO
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
