New carry gun... colt, kimber, para?

I've recently gotten my CCW and am looking for something with more knowdown power than the 9mm I carry now.
I love the 1911s and they feel great in my hands, although I'm not opposed to other models. I've been considering 3 models:
    1. Colt lightweight commander
    2. Kimber Pro Carry
    3. Para Ordinance CCW(or Carry 12)

Just wanted to hear the opinions of those who have shot and carried these and similar models, any problems? Preference? Anything you love about them?
    Thanks

I would go with Colt and Kimber over a Para.

I have a Para Carry 9 and it has been pretty finicky. I don't know what their .45's are like. Todd Jarrett shoots them.

Are you set on a 1911?

I only have Colts...well except for a Remington Rand 1911A1.

No, I'm not set. I've tried out some HK USPs and liked them just as much. XDs in 45 felt a little bulky for me but if I stepped down to the .40 they fit great. Don't know if I want to do that though. I've liked the Sigs I've tried too, haven't tried any of their 1911's though. I'm a little curious about Glocks too, shot a 19 quite a bit but nothing bigger.

From your list, the Kimber Pro Carry hands down!

I carry a Kimber Tactical Pro II myself.

I am also considering the 1911 platform for CC. I've looked at the Kimber Ultra Carry II, the Colt Defender, the New Agent and the LW Commander. I am almost certain my choice will be the Colt LW Commander
O4860XSE. The hard part now is finding one in stock.

I was leaning toward the Colt to start out and still think that's what I'm going with.
    Appreciate all the feedback.

I made a similar decision three months ago. I decided on the Colt (04012XSE) and it has been on back order since then. Just be patient.

I've heard great things about the Colt, every Kimber I've ever handled has been a treat, although I personally don't have any trigger time with the Pro Carry series. 1911's are a great carry in terms of slim profile, you get the compact models with shorter grips and barrels and they disappear in whatever rig you're using.

My only criticism is the same one that's been said before, 1911's aren't so great in terms of carrying capacity. You can get guns with fairly similar dimensions that have a higher carrying capacity. Other than that a well made 1911 is hard to beat.

If you opt for the Pro-Carry before you ever take the weapon to the range pick up the 4-inch Kimber spring set from Wolff springs.

Wolff Gunsprings Manufactures springs for modern and vintage firearms, guns, hammer, pistols, handguns, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, semiautomatic, accessories, weapons, law enforcement, hunting, shooting, recoil, colt, mainsprings, magazines, IPSC

I bought a Pro-Carry back in December put 600 rounds downrange with the gun and it had consistent FTRB's at a rate of about 3 per magazine. This was using Wilson Combat 47D mags.

I read about people having the same issue and found out that virtually all of them bought the spring kit from Wolff and it fixed their problem.

Put in the new mainspring and just racking the slide you could tell a difference. Went to the range and ran over 200 rounds of FMJ ammo without any issues. Haven't been back to the range since but I anticipate consistant results from now on.

Based on your choices I would lean toward the Pro-Carry but only after replacing the main spring with one of Wolff's 22# springs.

Colt all the way. I absolutely love mine. Buddy has a Kimber UC2 in his safe, he carries a Taurus daily, if that says anything.
