Did you know that the trigger reach on a G21SF is actually less than a Sig 229?

I measured this the same way I measured the girth of the grips. I.e. I placed the tape measure all the way around the grip and around the trigger. I figure this gives a measurement more like the hand gripping the gun.

The Sig 229 measured 7.5" and the Glock 7-3/8". Remember that's a girth measurement - around the grip and trigger.

Hmmm, wait a minute, those measurements can't be right because they're the same as the grip girth measurements. I bet they are 8.5" and 8-3/8" instead. Shoot! I'll have to re-measure that tonight.

This long trigger reach kept me away from the P229 for years; I loved the feel of the grip, and the pointing qualities, but could not reach the trigger (in DA mode) while maintaining a properly centered grip. (I have large hands, but not-so-long fingers.) Then, in 2004, I got to handle a P229 with a factory short trigger. Eureka! I have a new favorite autopistol, in all the world, and thankfully, it is on my employer's "approved" list of primary duty pistols.

I've installed a couple of short triggers in a couple of Sigs, but the stock trigger seems to fit me better.

But, your experience shows how 'big' small changes can be. Glad the 229 is on the approved list.

And like you say - you gotta love the feel of the grip and pointing of a Sig 229!
