Colt's current catalog shows 20 or 21 versions of the Model O Government Model pistol and 36 versions of the Single Action Army revolver.

I can't find a reference to it right now, but I read that Colt introduced (or re-introduced) a couple more Government Model pistols at the S.H.O.T. show.

There have always been rumors that Colt is bringing back some DA revolvers.

As a former LEO back before the Sabertooth tiger became extinct, we carried Smiths’ & Colts. Even then, the Colt was considered the prize. Those that could afford a Colt would typically have the Python. The action was soOoo smooth compared to the Smith. Every time I’m the local gun shop, I always pass by the used section, just to see.

More to say... I distinctly recall a day on the qual-course when a guy was nailing his target with a one-inch index. I looked over and it was a six-inch Python. Not just any Python, but a completely accurized Python. He let me shoot it and to this very day, I have yet to shoot any other handgun with such accuracy.

Yup.....Colt Det. Special I carry sometimes.....wish I could get another Colt.....but....hard to come by.

I take all guns seriously, but those Colts are real works of art.

Gunbunny; You have a great selection of Colt revolvers. I like the Police Positive, an unsung gem of a revolver. The Detective Special is only a Police Positive with a short barrel. Its easy to conceal a Police Positive with the right holster or even in a large pocket.

Of the Colt revolvers I have, I've made more use of a New Service Model 1917 .45 ACP than any other, but only in the field or at the range rather than for self defense carry. It's a big ol' gun.

I absolutely love my Colts. I inherited a '62 Frontier Scout from my granddad that has never been fired and bought a Colt Python not too long ago!

I like your 4-inch blue Python which makes the most attractive looking barrel length for the Python in my view. It is nicely balanced too.

I have always wanted a Python and found this one not too long ago. It was exactly what I wanted and priced really well and as you say it is very well balanced.

I love my Colt wheelguns! They're great to shoot and I have complete confidence in them. The Trooper is an absolute tack driver. The Dick Special is an excellent CCW choice, rated for +P rounds. My young bride is very fond of her Cobra, as well as being quite skilled in its use.

It's a real shame Colt has, for the most part, gotten out of the revolver business.

Cool ol' Model 1892. I have a later variation of the same type of Colt army .38. You probably are smarter than I am since you don't shoot yours. They lock work in them is pretty fragile. The only Colt revolver that ever broke on me was my Model 1901. A new-made trigger return spring fixed it.

My wife likes the Detective Special so much that I never got it back. She also liked the "look" of those crazy Magsafe SWAT rounds that look like a raggedy top garbage can loaded with #8 shot in an epoxy matrix, so guess what's in the DS? Knowing how well she shoots, I'd hate to see the BG that ever breaks into our place when I'm not there.

I carry a 3rd gen DS from time to time. Cold weather gun, since I use a pancake holster for it and need a cover garment. Sweet shooter though.

I keep a Lawman MkIII in the nightstand. Can't imagine a more reliable nighttime companion than that 'ol .357. It should get me to my gun safe, anyway.

I'd love to find a Detective Special for a good price. It's another one of those "always wanted one" guns.
