Nickel Finish 1911
I've decided that I am looking for a gun with a nickel finish. I'd prefer it to be a 1911 platform but may also consider other designs. I'd prefer it to be 45acp but I would accept anything in between 380acp to 45acp. The colt 38 super in nickel is what turned me on to this, I need something all metal and shiny. I'm not willing to spend anymore than $700.
I'm stuck now because I don't know who makes guns with a nickel finish and I have searched and searched and not come across too many options. Some people have recommended rock island, but there's not a lot info about them so it would be hard for me to track one down. If you know of any models that meet my criteria, please let me know. Thanks.

I am most certain you will find a nice used Colt 1911 version somewhere in nickel...under 700 im not sure about. Maybe a nice fancy nickel revo???

A 9mm might expand but a .45 will never shrink enough to fit 17 in the magazine.

Suggestion
In your situation I'd look for a carbon steel Colt 1911 .45 that was mechanically sound but showed considerable surface wear and scratches - sort of an "ugly duckling". I'd try to buy this for under $500. Then I would send it to Robar in Phoenix for a complete electroless nickel refinish, which costs $220:

With luck it might come out looking like my Colt Gold Cup in factory electroless nickel:

Colt also made the Combat Commander in electroless nickel.

I had a Colt Combat Commander in electroless nickel in .45 acp. I still wished I had that gun as it was just about the easiest toting and most accurate .45 I ever owned. I traded it for an open bolt MAC 10.
God bless our troops!
