    .22 LR Conversions

I recently purchased a .22 LR conversion slide for my Kimber .45 to both have a bit of a plinker with me, and simultaneously be able to train cheaply with my carry gun. (.45 prices don't agree with my weekly range trips)

I was just curious to know if anyone else here does the same?

Would love to but there isn't a conversion kit available for the HK USP compact that I've been able to find.

I did find one for my Taurus PT99 that I'm considering, but 200 bucks for a conversion for a gun I'm not planning on carrying is a bit steep for me right now.

I may have to look into getting one for my Glock 19. The ammo situation being as crummy as it is right now that is probably not a bad idea for any SA pistol owner out there.

I have owned a Ciener for a 1911 for maybe 8 years or so. I like it, although it does not lock the slide back after the last shot.
I have had no problem with it. The instructions stated that HP ammo might not work with it, but I have had no trouble with the Fed bricks of HP. Once in a great while it does not cycle with HP, but often I go and shoot 100 rounds without a problem. I probably have at least 500 rounds without a malfunction with Fed HP.

    J. Ciener, the one time I spoke with him about various guns and his unit, was not intereste in providing help. He just said he could not know all the 1911 models.

I recommend a conversion unit. It sure make shooting cheaper. I usually fire about 100 rounds of .22, and 100 or 200 rounds of .45.

    Regards,
    Jerry

My Kimber conversion kit doesn't lock back either. I used winchester brick HPs and it seemed to work well. There was a few issues of the round not ejecting. I found that a firm grip was needed to make it work. It may work better when I try the higher grade/velocity federal copper jacketed FMJs that I'll try next time.

    Unfortunately the standard 1911 conversion won't work with Para's - so I bought a Ruger Mark 3.

The only one that'll work with the Para single actions is made by Marvel, which is backordered beyond belief everywhere I've found them.

Agreed with O/P, that's why I snapped up a Kadet kit for my CZ 75B as soon as I could.

I have an Advantage Arms unit for a G30, and the Ciener for a 1911. I am a big fan of conversion units. Aside from all the practical reasons, they are just plain fun.

I think that .22 conversion units are becoming an ever increasingly smart choice these days.

plus one. and they are getting hard to find and have a long wait when you do find one.

I bought one for my Kimber to cut down on ammo costs. Very nice.

I have a G19 Glock and was thinking if getting a 22 cal conversion kit. Has any one tried one for this model? If the ammo thing keeps going these conversion kits may become scarce.

I also have a 1911 kit since 2002. IMO, .22 LR kits are the best aftermarket accesory for your carry gun. Even before the ammo shortage I was shooting close to 100 rounds of .22lr per range session (once or twice a week).

I've had a g17 Advantage Arms [ AA ] conversion for two years now. It doesn't like Federal but eats everything else.

I just scored two more AA kits for the g26 and g21sf last week that came into the shop. Scooped em before anyone got a chance to put them in the case for sale.

22's conversions on my glocks are certainly acceptable for practice with the exception of recoil control. I've used the g17 conversion in two of the classes for a short time to reduce the cost of ammo expended demonstrating the skills.

They also are excellent for my aerial shooting practice out in the desert.
