    Another trade dilemma

I have been thinking of trading my s&w 642 for another gun. I have a 642 and my wife has a 442 and I find that I like the 442 better. My wife is getting an LCP and doesn't carry the 442 so... I'm kind of undecided.

To be direct: don't. The 442 is a fine carry gun, but has nowhere near the longevity of the steel 642. If you're shooting it enough to be good with it, you'll want the steel frame.

The 442 and 642 are both aluminum framed revolvers, only the finish is different.

Actually the the 642 only has a "Matte Silver" finish and is not steel, it is alloy framed just like the 442, but the 442 is black. Essentially they are the same gun. So if you like the black one better, keep it.

Trades only work out for the dealer, not you. Keep the 642 and get something else if you want it.

Just like an auto trade these days.....only the dealer makes out in that transaction. I still think adding to the 642 is the best way to go.

I wouldn't trade at a dealer. I was thinking more about trading someone on the forums or maybe a friend.
