    CCW for my wife.

I was set on buying the Ruger LCP for my wife (5'5 and 105lbs... very small). She enjoyed shooting it, liked how it felt in her hand and didn't think it kicked bad at all.

Then I saw the Kahr PM9 and fell in love... small, semi-auto, 9mm (have you tried to find .380 ammo lately), good looking gun by a reliable company. BUT I haven't been able to find a place close by to try it. I shot a friends 45 cal Kahr and was supprised at how hard it kicked (more than I remember the last glock 45 I shot).
So I guess the real question is... can anyone tell me about the recoil from the Kahr PM9? Is it comparable to the LCP? Any input is welcome. I scanned the info on the PM9 but didn't see much on this. Thanks!

Well you said it... "you fell in love with...".

You had better let her fall in love with the gun she picks out to CC for herself.

I like the PM9 alot but the spring is very very stiff. Will she like trying to rack it?
It has very little recoil, the barrel is lower on the frame.

Ya she handled it at gander mt and loved the way it felt but did have trouble racking it... but the sales guy said the more its used it will loosen up. any truth to that? I have a feeling that she would be a pro in no time with a little practice. I have been amazed at how fast she has caught on to this stuff... but what did I expect, she's a MS girl.

I agree that you should let her pick it out. If she don't care for it, she won't want to practice with it and IMO that will discourage her carrying it.

In regards to the recoil spring loosening, it may just a bit but really won't make too much of a difference.

My wife tried the Kahrs at the SHOT SHOW and had difficulty working the slides, they can be stiff. She has no trouble with the LCP. Better be sure your wife also agrees on the PM9. .380 can be had, try on line vendors.

It should be HER pick no matter what. She has to be comfortable and confident with her choice for it to be effective

I agree whole heartedly that it should be her pick. I am just looking at all the options and making suggestions.

I don't want to go out of my way to find a pm9 for her to actually shoot if I get enough feed back here that they are not recoil friendly etc.

The LCP is the smallest thing she has shot other than the Glock 26 which she liked but worried about the bulk compared to the LCP.

The comment "I fell in love with" was just a poke at those PM9 lovers out there because its a nice gun and their experience is what I'm after.

As of right now the slide is the biggest problem I'm seeing . 2-4 hour trip to a shooting range where we can actually fire one is still on the books.

Thanks for all the feed back thus far though!!!

I think she would like the PM9 if you showed her how to hold it in tight to the body and use the push and twist 2 hands and body method to rack the slide.

Let her pick in my opinion. You might let her try a revolver. Eliminates racking the slide.
