Not to worry. I honestly think we have all done it at one time or another. Don't be embarrassed.

Too funny though.....it gave me a good laugh.

The first time I took my Kimber to the range I wanted to put a bunch of rounds through it. After about 150 I decided to clean and lube my fine weapon. I started field stripping my brand new 1911 on the tailgate of my truck. I knew the recoil spring would release but it still got away from me. The Recoil Spring Plug hit my open topper and disappeared. Do you have any idea how much a Recoil Spring Plug looks like a piece of spent brass.

I finally found it and while trying to reassemble my brand new Kimber it got away from me again. I ended in the bed of my truck with the topper closed, the Recoil Spring Plug got away from me one more time and gave me a nice half moon above my left eye.

I decided to read the instructions amazing how that works (yes I am still trying to earn my "Man Card" back) . I was afraid someone was going to come by and tell me I was too stupid to own a fine weapon like that and take it away from me.

Keep shooting if you can find the ammo.

1911s definately have a learning curve to them. I still fumble if it has been a while. And yes, I have popped myself with the recoil srimg a time ot two as well.

As silly as this all is, familiarty is key.

    But it is still funny!

I put a half moon shaped dent in my 9 foot ceiling the day I got my Kimber Custom II home and field stripped it the first time.

    PT 1911 as well here.
I locked it with the key to see how it worked. Put it in the safe and next time I went to the range thought the gun was broke. Boy was I steamed. I was more steamed when I got home and remembered the lock on it. I won't tell anyone if You don't. Ha Ha.
