BELGIAN, never heard of one ??
    When did S&W start making P99's ??
I thought they were only importing them. Mine are both made in Germany.

They had the SW99 (a P99 copy with a few changes). Is that what we're talking about?

    Yeah, I'm a little confused.

The P99 is still made in Germany. The frame of the SW99 was also made in Germany, but Smith and Wesson produced the slide and barrel in the US.

I have one of the older style P99 pistols - bought it in 2003, I think. Made in Germany, and imported by S&W. I've never had a problem with it.

I'm a P99 owner. It is a fantastic firearm and a great shooter. Great ergonomics and a sweet trigger in the AS version. All 9mm P99's are 100% made in germany. S&W only imported them under license from Walther. Some of the .40 P99's slide and barrels were made by S&W but they arent anymore. The SW99 was Smiths attempt at copying the P99 and is widely considered very inferior to the P99. Here's a good link to lots of P99 info
