You can't beat a shotgun for a basic home defense weapon.

This one was tough for me to answer but in the end, I responded “No”. Conversely, either of my guns can feasibly be used as a decent CCW. However, I have my favorite, based on features I perceive as essential these days’.

My EDC is the first garb it's on the headboard. Shottie next but before I'm even out of bed my PT140 is in hand.

My EDC has night sights and a laser so it is also my HD gun.

Handgun at the bedside will be the first drawn if necessary. But as the ol' saying goes, use a pistol to fight your way to a long gun.

I have a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with #4 buckshot that I think is my best home defense weapon.

Ah, the pollster forgot such choices as:

    (C) Maybe.

    (D) Sometimes.

    (E) It depends.

I don't have a designated HD weapon. I do use one or more of my P229s for duty and CC, and if that is nearest at hand when at home, that will do for the moment as the HD weapon. If one of the SP101 snubbies happens to be nearest at hand, well, then, it is the HD weapon of the moment.

All of the handguns pale in comparison to a long gun, such as one of my 870 pump guns, or Mini-14.

No...and yes...no way to vote like this.
At home my CCW (Kimber Ultra CDP) is always on my person, but for serious protection another Kimber and my coach gun await action on the homefront.

Three of my concealed carry weapons also serve as home defense weapons.
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.
