It's a magazine. Clips go in a magazine, magazines go in a gun...<g>
.357 Sig is a necked down .40, so the magazines are USUALLY interchangeable.

The term "clip" in the realm of shooting refers to a stamped piece of metal that holds bullets in place by the rim. They are then stripped off into a magazine. The term magazine, which I believe you are referring to holds bullets contained within. A magazine can either be removable or fixed.
The reason your magazine is labeled 357sig/ 40 S&W is because it will hold both cartridges. The 357 Sig is essentially a necked down 40cal case; therefore your magazine will fit both cartrides.
Do NOT attempt to shoot 357 Sig out of your 40 S&W gun, because it may cause severe damage.

Freedomofchoice, Thanks for the info. Sorry for my last post i did mean magazine. By no means was i going to try to shoot a 357sig out of my 40sw i just couldnt see why s&w would put both on the magazine since it would cause confusion.

Smith isn't the only manufacturer that does it. My Astra A-75 mags are stamped 9mm/.40 S&W. Same mag can be used for both rounds, just have to make sure the right round is used in the right weapon.Originally Posted by zachgry

Hmm... don't know about Smiths but my Glock G23 will shoot .357sig if I change the barrel only.

It uses the same mag for both calibers ,just change the barrel for a 357 sig
