It is a very good weapon....I have the older brother the p228. Itis one of the most popular CCW and/or duty weapons out there except for Glock.

They are one of the BEST IMO, it's my next gun....in .40s+w

They have great balance, great accuracy, wonderful ergonomics, ultimate reliability, perhaps the best CS in the industry (Sig Sauer) and the best quality.

I'll second that they are one of the BEST, also IMO. I have two in .40 S&W.
Be careful though, they are like a Lays potato chip....you can't have just one.

I carry my SIG 229 often. Here it is in its beautiful UBG holster (cow with elephant trim).

I have never heard a bad word about the Sig 229 (well, maybe one or two) and everyone seems to enjoy shooting theirs. I have shot the 226 and the recoil is almost non-existent. They seem to be wonderful guns and I am also thinking about switching to one.

A bunch of good things have already been said, and I can't disagree. I will say one bad thing though... its a little bulky and heavy when compared to the poly wonder guns, but who cares. Its one of the best.

I don't own any Sig's, but I've never heard any complaints about them either...go Sig!.

I have a Sig P229 SCT in .40 its the sweetest gun I have. I absolutely love to shoot it. One of the main things I love about sigs that i have not seen anyone post is that they are real safe. They have multiple safety features. I know you can get these in other firearms but I do not think anyone has a de-cocking lever like a Sig.

For carry you may want to look at the P 239. This is a sweet gun as well.

Good luck on the purchase. You will love the Sigs and you will get more than one. They are brutal that way, can't really stop at one.

After two decades of carrying weapons concealed, that included such challenges as S&W N-frame revolvers, a Ruger GP100, and full-sized Bricks, er, I mean, Glocks, I have found the P229 to be EASY to conceal. It being one of the four "approved" pistols on my chief's list of duty pistols at the time I bought my first P229 in 2004, it simply made sense to tote it for personal-time CC, too.

I have long liked CC handguns that fill my hands well, point well, and are accurate. The P229 does all of this, and is nicely concealable. What's not to like?

My "big brother" (technically not a blood relative, but acts that way) is issued one for his work at the DOJ. He said he LOVES it and carries it all the time!
Don't frisk me, I am the weapon.
