hey there this is my first post on this forum. I'll make it short. my 1911 is giving me back problems heck we all get old. now my question is G29 or G30
How about an XD, grip frame closer to the 1911 then the Glock, it also has the grip safety, and is available in 45acp.
Welcome, Maddawg from PA. I used to be a die hard 1911 man for many yrs. For the past year, I've seen the light, and now carry either 2- G30SF's with GNS (glock night sights,) or a G21SF w/GNS and 1 of my G30SF's. Always have 2 spare G21 mags (13 rounds each and work excellently in the G30 as well.) It's really hard to beat the reliability of a G30 or G30SF with 11 big fat comforting Fed HST 230gr +P's at your immediate disposal in the G30/G30SF. I can't comment on G29 as I'm not a fan of 10mm or 40cal. Guess after 35 yrs of 45acp...this semi-old dog, doesn't want to learn any new tricks..lol
Good luck and always, stay safe.
By the way maddawg, my avitar is a target I shot this week...30 rounds from my G30SF with the Fed HST 230gr +P at 7 yds. rapid-fire. approx 40 seconds including mag changes.

Please try to stay on topic to the thread.
The thread question was: "now my question is G29 or G30"
It was not: Should I go with the G29 or the G30 ??? ~ and by the way...What do you you think about the XD?
springer 1911s also i can get the Glocks under $500 each i'm leaning to the G30 becaus i have the ammo but its +P+
i did'nt want to start this XD v GLOCK thing guess i got the wrong forum
I wasn't trying to either, was just offering another suggestion because you like the 1911, I like the glock also, just thought it was another option, again sorry for going off subject.
Glock-30...![]()

I would go with the 30 - you already have the ammo, the 30 is a great little gun.

With all due respect, this is a duscussion forum, right? So we can't offer other suggestions outside of the title limitations now? ShooterX offored another suggestion and pointed out the reasons why it would be similar to the carry piece used by the OP, thus making the transition easier. What he did, I think, is perfectly acceptable. In no way has any of this turned into a Glock vs. Springfield debate.
The next time someone comes in here and asks:
"I'm either getting a desert eagle or a 12 inch single action revolver for my 5'2" girlfriend to concealed carry, which should I buy?"
Would it not be acceptable to suggest different guns that might suit her better, or can we only choose between the two? The response the OP got was along the lines of something that is quite similar to his current setup...thus suggesting something else that the OP might not have thought of.
My response to the OP: Try them both before you make up your decision on what to buy. We all have different hands, eyes, recoil tolerance, and preferences when it comes to guns. One person loves a particular gun and the next person hates it, and sometims for the same reasons.
Speak softly, and carry a big stick.
I realize this is off the original topic, but you might want to reconsider that ammo. There is no industry standard for it so there is no way to know the kind of pressure it is developing. To the best of my knowledge no pistol manufacturer will warranty the weapon if your using what is listed as +P+ ammo.
