Thumbs up My three favorite 45 pistols

Springfield XD 45 compact, Glock 38 in 45 GAP, Kahr PM45

I recently bought the XD 45, it's my first Springfield. Holds 10 + 1 rounds with the flush fitting magazine. The grip is slightly smaller than a Glock 19/23 and feels great. Recoil seems mild for a 45 and the pistol has been trouble free for it's first 130+ rounds.

I've been a Glock fan for a long time and the model 38 combines the standard grip of the 19/23 with a thicker slide (about like the model 30). Capacity is 8 + 1 rounds of 45. I know some don't like the GAP round, but I really like this pistol.

The Glock and the Springfield are essentially the same size, XD is a few ounces heavier.

The Kahr is a very compact 45. The pistol had a few failures to feed in it's first box of Federal 185, but after that it's been trouble free. I've shot another box of the Federal 185, plus Federal Hydra Shocks and Winchester Ranger smooth as butter. It's now got about 230 rounds thorugh it. This pistol is light and easy to carry / conceal.

The holsters in the pic. are Fist Kydex IWB.

Chrono results, average of 5 shots:
Springfield XD 45 compact Winchester Ranger 230 gr. @ 865 fps
    Kahr PM45 Winchester Ranger 230 gr. @ 832 fps
Glock 38 Winchester 230 JHP (White box) @ 831 fps

Really, I should have just called this thread: My 3 favorite pistols.

I have an XD-45 compact and it is my EDC. An absolutely fantastic handgun! Used to have 45 GAP handgun but sold it due to trouble in this rural area finding ammo but it was a pretty good gun. Kahrs are just too slim for my big hands. Enjoy!

I must say if I had to list the 3 pistol favs, this would include the xd .45 compact; approximately the size of a glock 23 but with 10 rounds of .45 acp. it is very shootable and conceable. the other 2 favs pistols would be the glock 23 and my first pistol, the 92fs beretta.

all of these pistols eat what i feed them, shoots great, reliable, and really don't need a break in period.

My three are a Glock 30SF, Ruger KP-90, and a Llama "Especial" my mom bought for me for $70 circa 1970.

The Llama is ugly and rough, but it will feed and shoot anything any time. The perfect "truck gun".

    Colt, H&K, Kimber

I like .45s, and my three favorites are an old Colt Gold Cup, an H&K USP, and a Kimber Pro CDP.

The XD45 compact is a wonderful pistol. It is my cool weather carry pistol.

After shooting the Kimber Compact CDP I got recently, I will certainly agree, and it's on my favorites list already, as well as being destined for the everyday carry pistol as soon as it gets some more rounds through it. Smooth shooting!

I've carried a Glock 27 for years, can easily be hidden under a loose fitting untucked t-shirt and I sometimes will still choose it.

However, I've discovered that if I wear a thin t-shirt (tucked in) with a untucked loose fitting button up plaid shirt I can easily conceal the XD or the 38. Thanks to my new attire my warm weather carry is going to be a little bigger. I've already tested the combo with shorts and it's doable at 80 something degrees.

Two of my three are 45's and the other is a 357 SIG. I feel comfortable with any of them and would trust my life and family to any of them. Can't really pick an "order" of best to worst with these three. My daily choice is usually based on nothing more than which one looks more interesting on that particular day. They are all just different enough to not feel the same on my hip but they all shoot perfectly and accurately. I do carry one of the two 45's most often though.
