Help Me Pick a Gun I Don't Know I Need

I know, not another 'what gun should I get' thread, but here's the deal:

SWMBO stated that after I bought two pistols in the last 6 months I couldn't buy another firearm until she had new sofas. I interpreted that to mean (and I'm holding her to it) that she PROMISED that I could buy a new gun once she got new sofas.

The new sofas are in the living room as I type this.

The problem: I don't know what to get.

I have EDC covered with a Ruger SR9 or HK P7 depending on clothing. I have hunting rifles and shotguns covered. I have 22 pistols and rifles and Cowboy Action Shooting sets. I have muzzleloaders for blackpowder season.

For the first time in my life I don't really have anything on my 'gotta have it' gun list. Tough problem, I know, but I'm feeling kind of lost.

So, tell me, what gun do I need that I don't, right now, know that I need?

    A few suggestions:

Everyone needs a j-frame. Everyone should have an AR or AK type rifle (though they're a bit pricey at the moment). Everyone ought to take advantage of the Civilian Marksmanship Program and acquire an M1 Garand and M1 Carbine.

What's your budget? That could narrow it down.

Well we cant help you pick a gun, but we can suggest, only you can pick the gun you want. in my opinion a sig is the best choice but somebody else will say otherwise. the only way that you can decide is to go down to a firing lane near you and try out the gun that you like the most. when shooting it consider how the grip feels in your hand, how it feels when you shoot it, and was it comfortable while holding and shooting. trust me i was in the same situation you are in and i went to the firing lane and decided that i was going to get the Sig P220. hope this helped.

Well you need a J-frame, a good 1911(even though that would unconsolidate ur SD gun ammo from 9mm), a pocket gun, like the j-frame, or in the interest of staying with the 9mm, a Kahr PM9. I like the idea of a good EBR. Like a S&W M&P 15T or a Colt 6940. (M4gery) A Good HD shotgun (Rem 870, Mossberg 590 or Mossberg 930) thats just to start. Oh and a Glock 19 is always a good addition to any collection.

Step way out and get a Desert Eagle in .50ae caliber. And get it in one of those flashy finishes.

    I say you need a classic - a 5" 1911 or CZ-75 or Browning Hi-Power

    Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag.

You didn't say anything about a hunting pistol in your cabinet.

I prefer the 5.5 inch stainless model myself with a set of pachmyers on it.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

The Ruger Redhawk in 44 mag mentioned above and/or the new Sig P238...
