    NAA Black Widow Case Rupture

Just bought a brand new NAA Black Widow in 22 lr. only. Took it out tothe range yesterday and fired off about fifty rounds. I noticed some of my .22 lr cases had slight hairline ruptures in the casings after I took them out (I fired about 50 rounds; 3 rounds had the ruptured cases). They did not all rupture in the same chamber, nor did the rupturing cause the gun to misfire. Tell me - is this normal/safe or is this an issue?

Bad ammo? Oversized chambers? I would suggest contacting NAA first and see what they have to say.

Sounds like an ammo issue, not a gun issue to me.

Do you have another .22 firearm that you can use to try some of the same ammo?

I recently had the same issues with a box of Remington "Golden Bullet" ammunition in my Browning, 3-5 ruptured cases out of half the box (550?) so far. I guess it's just a bad lot. No issues extracting the cases and the gun is fine.

I would definately call NAA and get their feedback. While I doubt it is the chamber (Yet still way possible BTW) it sounds like maybe brittle brass. More than likely the ammo but CYA with NAA first. Nothing like powder flash from a split round

Fires guess would be the ammo, you can contact the manufacturer with the batch number to see if they have had complaints about it. Second guess would be the chamber mis-sized. The odds of both chambers being mis-sized is slim though.

I had to ask myself: "Was he firing Remington Golden Bullets?"
The reason I ask that is I have had many ruptured cases using Remington GBs in my 10/22 and Remington Model 597. I read on the rimfire forum that it is because the brass is too hard.
