Anyone able to find any Springfield Armory 1911's?

I have a SA Champion on order through a dealer, but was wondering if anyone is seeing any arrive around the country. In AZ we don't have anyone with any. Nada. Zip.

After checking with Springfield, and being informed that I should expect to wait about 1 year, I am rethinking my position. My only issue is that it was one of those weapons that just fits perfect in my hand, and feels like a part of me. I would rather wait to get what I want than settle for something else and regret it later. Not as if there are many 1911's to be found anyhow.

Sorry I digressed. Back to my original post. Is SA delivering any new 1911's or have they gotten out of the business unless it is an XD? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

As I understand, Springfield produces batches of pistols in different runs. IOW, they are not producing Champions on a daily basis.

I had a LW Champion and it was a good shooter but I sold it and bought a Dan Wesson CBOB which I like much better. They're more money but have a better "fit and finish" IMO. I really like the "upcut" trigger guard and high rise beavertail on the CBOB. Of course, they're hard to find, too.

When I was on leave back in April SA's were slightly harder to find than they had been in the past, but my favorite gun store still had a good stock of them, and I was able to snag a loaded model at a decent price. But pretty much every other gun store told me they were backlogged for months.

You might give whittakerguns.com a try. I've purchased 3 SA 1911's from them in the past. :)

I tried unsuccessfully to purchase a SA Loaded 1911 9mm and a Champion. I was told by Springfield that they had no immediate plans for a run on either of these guns.

    I found a SA 1911 9mm on Gunbroker and bought a Kimber 4" SIS.

I saw and handled a few of Springfield and other 1911's (Kimber, Para, etc) this past weekend at Cole's Gun Shop in Clearwater FL.

I like 5" 1911's as I don't trust the shorties after a terrible experience with a Champion and seeing other chopped ones malfunction numerous times, even after break-in.

Check out the SA Mil-Spec on Summits site. Great pistol at a great price. Have the same one (1990 vintage) and it's been a extremely reliable weapon. Out of the box it has everything you need for a carry pistol and you can always modify it to YOUR tastes down the road.

As previously stated I myself would jump on it quickly if your looking for a 1911 that'll give you many years of service.

Carried mine for 17 years before swapping to an H&K P7. It's now my bedside backup to my 870 riot.

I have spent the past 3 years looking for a Springfield Armory 1911 Black Stainless Loaded model. I saw it once in a sporting goods store and it was the most eye catching 1911 I had ever seen. The polished stainless and black finish made it an absolute beauty.

SubNine there is a SA 1911 Black Stainless at Coastal Sports in SC. The price is $897. I saw it Saturday at the bullseye match. I have used them as an FFL for guns to friends and they are very reliable. Talk to Will Abbott or Woody, tell them Chris from the match told you about the gun.
