Narrowed it down - which carry gun?
Glock 29 10mm or the G30SF 4acp. With this poll, I am not concerned with availability of ammo, reloading Issues, or price of ammo - I am purely concerned with performance, specifically ballistics.
Which would make you more comfortable, having 10r of 45acp or 10r of 10mm. Please vote not on your bias but the info provided and the info available on the 2 calibers. The G29 is a tad shorter and the G20 is a tad lighter. Seems like a pretty fair fight
Which gun would be the best for CCW and WHY???
CAL BR MOD CAP Lgth Hgt Wdt WT-E
10mm Glock G29 10 6.77 4.45 1.27 24.69
45acp Glock G30 10 6.77 4.76 1.27 23.99

ok this is with my limited knowledge.
I prefer the .45 acp over the 10mm, its a slightly larger hole going a little slower. this gives you less over penetration chance (I know not usually the biggest issue) but the real selling point with me is lower recoil which means a faster follow up shot. YMMV
Have you had a chance to fire either of the guns your looking at?

Either Glock is going to work...for a looooooong time.
I prefer the .45 (I have a G-36) over the 10mm...I'm just sayin'...

Very happy G29SF owner here. Also just got a G33 which has some great ballistics as well and looks too be much easier to carry.

The 45ACP for defense against 2 legged critters and the 10mm for 4 legged critters.

I like the 10mm just because it is different than most of the rest...that being said the G30 is probably the more practical all around choice.

I sure do love mine, the g29 is what made me love 10mm.
you can convert the g29 to 40 sw and to 357sig a little added bonus.
if none of that is of any concern why dont you have the g29 already?
you know almost everybody will pick 45
ps: unless you have wrist problems follow up shots and recoil are no problem, I think 10mm recoil is mostly hyped, a few push ups will fix that

The .45 will get the job done. Out in the woods hiking,
I would rather have the 10mm

There are reports with pictures on glock talk about problems with the g30sf. The trigger bar is getting a groove cut in it and it is failing to return to battery and it doesn't seem like Glock has a answer for it or even acknowledges that there is a problem yet. I like Glocks and I am A GSSF member, not trying to bash them, but I would stay away from the g30sf for now.

Since you're only concerned with performance, any ballistics table will show you that the 10mm out performs the .45. Is it the practical choice, nope?

I think Ted Nugent is the only guy who really talks up the 10mm !

In the poll I was ready to pick the Glock 30, until I noticed that it was the "Slim Frame". So go for for 10mm.

Never shot either, but I've seen enough people shooting a G30sf from time to time in the next lane at the range... I'll take the G30sf.

Glock 30SF, as .45 acp ammo is (usually) plentiful and there is a wide variety of good defensive loads to choose from, which is not the case with the 10mm even as powerful as it is for a handgun round.
God bless our troops!
