    My First 1911...Colt Commander

Yep, I finally bought one today. Saw a guy shooting a Dan Wesson (really nice gun by the way) and it pushed me to go out seeking a Colt Commander specifically, I've been wanting one for a while.

I thought about Springfield, and others, but I wanted a really good one (not saying Springfield isn't, just doesn't carry the weight that the name Colt does) without going into the expensive custom stuff that you get with Dan Wesson, Les Baer, or Kimber. What really sold me though is that I held a Colt Commander once and just loved it. Perfect size to me, with the 4 inch barrel and great weight balance, finish, and trigger.

    Anyway, here's mine.

Pictures aren't the best, I know. I'm too excited right now to setup the picture taking stuff I guess, I'll get more later. You can see it's still got the factory oil and stuff on it so I'll need to clean it.

Makes me wonder why I didn't buy one sooner. :)

NICE..have TWO Colts myself..but I'm on either side of you:A Series 70 GOV'T Model and a first year OFFICER'S MODEL. You're right in the middle with that Commander! Good Luck with it!

Nice pistol! I have a Colt 1991A1 Commander and really like it. I shoot it about the best of all my handguns. If I didn't shoot lefty and have to have the ambi safety, I'd put some CT lasergrips on it and use it as my "nightstand" gun.

Very nice. Always wanted a Commander too. Lucked out a few years back and found this slightly used Commander for $500. She's my nightstand and "patrol the fenceline" gun. Target not too impressive but hitting a paper plate at 30 yd is a major accomplishment for me.

In the world of 1911s, you just can't beat a Colt!

The first handfgun I purchased when I was retired from the USMC was a satin Chrome Colt commandr in 45 ACP. I paid $125.00 in 1970 and I still have it.

Those are some very nice looking Commanders!

Gives me the Colt fever! They are rather hard to find locally, and bring a pretty good price when they do turn up.
