    Glock 36 issue

I have had my 36 for about 2 months now and have put close to 300 rounds through it. The last two times I was at the range, the slide seems to jam and the cartridge gets stuck when I pull the slide back.

    Am I doing something wrong?

I release the mag, remove the cartridge and then load it again and it works.

Do any of you face the same issue?

I am wondering if I need to replace the recoil springs/magazine spring with Wolff's....not sure if that is the cause.

I've had no issues with my '36', and I can't believe that it would be a spring issue after only 300 rounds.
Type of ammo? (which shouldn't be a problem)
Are you easing in the round or letting it snap closed?
First shot, last shot, or just when loading?

Hang on, and the Glock experts will be here shortly.

At the range I use Magtech .45 acp 230gr FMC. Happens before I fire the first shot when pulling the slide back. It seems like the cartridge slides backwards instead of getting chambered.

if you slowly pull the slide back and let it go slowly back to the front it does the same thing in my xdsc specially if its hollow points you need to pull it back fast and let it go and it will chamber it correctly

Im having a hard time picturing what is going on. So your saying you start with an empty gun. Insert mag. Pull slide back and it jams at this point? There are some glock gurus on here with WAY more experience then i have. Im sure they will be along.

I have 2 Glock 36s and they have been flawless. As someone else said, you need to put your magazine in, pull slide back sharply, and let it go.

Just curious are you by any chance using a +1 or +2 mag extension? I know that some problems have been reported when using these.

I found out what the problem was. A low tension mag spring. I took out a spare mag, loaded it and pulled the slide back, no issues. Did that with my 4th spare mag, no issues.

I then took out all the cartridges from the defective mag and compared the resistance on the follower. The follower on the defective mag offered very little resistance when pushed down.

I guess that must be the issue since it was fixed when I replaced the mags.

I'll be ordering new mag springs from Wolff.

I got my GTUL and the Wolff Magazine springs. I replaced both my mag springs and now there is no issue of the slide jamming. It moves as smooth as butter.

Thanks Wolff! I suggest this as a necessary upgrade.

That is the reason why I do not have all my mags loaded all the time. I also rotate mags from my main carry and back up mags so I don't wear out the spring.

While "slingshotting" the slide is ok to do, it should not be required to chamber a round. All my pistols will feed a round with the most gentle of actuation, including my Glock 27. My Walthers feed like butter as do my Steyrs and Beretta and Radom P64's. If it is hanging on the round you should have the ramp polished and if that doesn't remedy the problem have a Glock Armorer look it over.
