    LCP vs. P-3AT vs. P380?

All things considered what might be the way to go for a small pocket .380 (between the Kel-Tec, Kahr and Ruger)?
Feel free to throw the .380 Guardian in there.

Another vote for the KT .380. I have had one for over 6 years...it always goes bang and never a problem with mine.

First off let me say I am not bashing Kel Tec products because I own or have owned several myself so I can speak from some level of experience and I am not just repeating comments back that I have read somewhere. Kel Tecs are generally well engineered, inovative designs but leave alot to be desired in fit, finish and polish. But that is why they sell at the low price point they do. Kahr's while much more costly are generally well worth the extra funds because that are made from better materials and are well finished inside and out. Kel Tec has excellant CS but its needed far to often with too many of their guns. If you go to the two major Kel Tec forums you will see that they highly recommend you perform the famous KT "fluff anf buff" on these pistols. I performed this on mine and yes it does help smooth out the rough edges. So Kel Tecs are a trade off for the price IMO. I just don't think my CCW choices are where I will bargin shop. I get the best small handgun I can find for the money that fits my needs. I will scrimp on small appliances and clothing or something else that my life does not depend on, but not my carry guns. Its not about the price you pay, but about what you get for your money that really counts here.
The LCP is functionally basically the same as the P3at but far better finished and polished, but to be honest I really don not care for either pistol. I think Kahr makes the best small CCW guns avalible today this side of Seacamp and Rohrbaugh.

If price is not the overriding concearn, in the experience I have with the Kahr, Kel Tec P3at and the Ruger LCP my ranking would be:
    1. Kahr .380
    large gaps here
    2. Ruger LCP
    3. Kel Tec P3at

As always this is only my personal views but its based off a good deal of first hand experience with these guns not rehashed things I have read or second hand feedback, so salt as needed!.

If price is not a big factor - the Kahr (if you can find one).
Otherwise the Ruger and Kel-Tec are about equal.

Personally, I prefer a laser and right now (as far as I know) there is not a quality one made for the Kahr, so I'd either wait or go for the LCP or P-3AT.

Crimson Trace is working on that now as we speak. I have one on my PM9, and its the perfect compliment to these small close range handguns.

    Lightbulb My 2 cents...

Bump it (the caliber ) up a notch... and get thee slimest 9mm out there:

    SPECS
    Calibers: 9mm Luger 9x19mm
Weight unloaded (no magazine) : 12.7 oz. 360g
    Loaded magazine : 2.8 oz. 81g
    Length : 5.85" 149mm
    Height : 4.3" 109mm
    Width : .88" 22mm
    Barrel Length : 3.1" 80mm
    Capacity : 7 + 1 rounds

ammo is easier to find...less expensive

    btw...+1 on the laser...LaserLyte FSL v1 pictured

I had this same decision to make. My ranking after my months of research:

    1. Sig P238
    2. Kahr P380 (good luck finding one)
    3. NAA Guardian
    4. Ruger LCP
    5. Kel-Tec P3AT

I value quality and durability over price. I LOVE my P238, I'm glad I didn't give up on waiting for one and pick one of the other choices from my list.

Micro Desert Eagle by Magnum Reasearch - Rock solid, fun to shoot, great fit and finish. Pricier than the LCP or KT but well worth it.

I have both the keltec and the ruger,in my opinion, they are about the same.both shoot and are dependable, about the only difference is the lcp is finished a little better, but you pay for the difference.I would rate them about the same, can't speak for the kahr as I haven't even seen one much less shot one.sj

I would go for the P3AT.I carry one every day and it always goes bang when I pull the trigger. But I have not tried the Ruger yet.I don't like the Kahr's at all.

Between the three, I prefer the Kahr.

I guess I have big pockets, I carry my Sig 232 with CTG in the front pocket of my fatigues sometimes, works great...but it is a pocket full.

I would save my money for a while longer and get a Rohrbaugh.
