It's suppose to be better, yes. The 9mm/.40/.357 Sig XDs have a Brunurial (sp?) finish, the .45 ACP has a Melonite finish.

Just a thought: spare parts are not something you can "pick up", at this point, for the XD. I won't buy anything I can't get back in action myself, or with a very short trip to a local smith. Just me, though....

    I would go Sig or Glock.(for hi-cap)

I went ahead and put an XD 45 acp 5 inch tactical on layaway yesterday. was "just looking" till the guy came around and made me handle them! Both the 4 inch and 5 inch felt real good in hand, just went with the tactical for $10.00 more difference. I have 90 days to get it out, but I suspect I'll have it a lot sooner than that! :)

I just picked up a XD45 5" Tactical model last night and put 100 rounds through it at the range. It shoots great and I had no malfunctions. I'll post a range report as soon as I get the time to run some more rounds through it.

<<< See...I liked it so much I'm smiling in my cubical at work.

For a house/range gun, I'd get the XD45 5" Tactical model. If you also might consider CCW with it then I'd get the 4" service model.

For what it is worth I have the 9mm xd and I love it. Weapon is well made and shoots tight groups right out of the box. I have no reason to think the .45 would be any less of a weapon. SA makes great equipment.

I've spent the last week and a half looking into this and decided to get the service XD45. Found one for 475.00 OTD. The stuff that comes with it is junk as I found out when I purchased the XD9.If I can't sell the holsters , I'll do a Combat Carry Karma givaway.

Yes....The free stuff that comes with it isn't that great. The mag loader is about the only thing usefull...but then my thumb can do the same thing and it works with all types of magazines.

I'm going to pick up a 4" when my wallet allows me. I envy everyone in the lower states....Lowest price I've seen in RI on the 5" Tactical model is $590! I couldn't believe it. 4" models are running around $525.

Everybody on this thread seems to be purchasing one of these awesome pistols; is the majority going with all black ot two tone?
