Have you looked around for a Certified Pre Owned (CPO) Sig 220?

No matter what you get, you're going to want that 220, why settle for what you don't want? I'd stick it out till you can get what you want.

Your handgun isn't the place to scrimp. Either save up or look for a CPO Sig.

What's that old saying...something like the joy of good quality will far outlast the sting of the cost. It's true for quality firearms.

Would this be your only gun, or do you have another???

With perspective given to your post and financial situation, I would suggest the following.

If you do not own another gun, buy your self something along the lines of a Kel-Tec PF-9. They should run in the $250-$300 range, and 9-mm would be less expensive to practice with, and it will get the job done.

Now, if you do have another gun that you can use for CCW and home security, please save your money if it is tight right now. Being secure involves more than a weapon, having a roof over your head and food in the kitchen is all part of a "security" plan.

I am not so sure things are not going to get somewhat worse before they even think of turning around. They are starting to talk of 11% unemployment.

Examine your "whole" security plan, and make wise decisions.

To try to help with the original question, maybe shop around for something used, or well I hate to open the "can-O-worms" hhhhhhhhhhhigh-point. I didn't type that out loud, did I????

+1 JD, I was saving for a new SIG and came across a CPO Sig 226
.40 at BassPro shop for $589, keep looking you'll get one. I'm gong to start saving again for a P220 myself, hope to get one by years end.

I agree. Save until you can afford it. Everytime i scrimp on something i ALWAYS end up not happy and getting what it was i wanted in the first place. Always cost more. Get what you want.
