"The SIG Brothers"
After owning my SIG P229 SAS for two years I recently added a "little brother", the SIG P238.
For function, I removed the wood grips from the 229 last year, replacing them with some thinner SIG SAUER plastic grips that had been checkered by Hogue. That meant when I got the 238 they had a striking resemblance. They are brothers!

P.S. The smudges are where I edited the pic to blot out the serial numbers.

I would like the 238 with some custom grips. I wonder if any are available for it?

A SIG customer service rep told me they planned to launch the two-tone version with the aluminum grips they had on it in the promo pic at their website, but as you see with mine they didn't. She said they may come out with these grips at a later date, but there has not been a decision yet.

What about aftermarket. I know a guy who makes customs that I'm sure if you sent the originals you could get anything you want.
He made the Carbon Fiber grips on my Defender. LMK if your interested.

JimmyC4,
Damn, I wanna be like' you when I grow up! Actually, I've had a 238 on order for a while now but there is no speculation as to when that fable will actually show up. When it does, I may well trade off one my current favorites and opt for exact same twin-two. BTW: Nice photo so what camera/lens did you use?

Regards,

I got lucky on finding the P238. My wife encouraged me to buy it, knowing I was admiring it, so I went looking the next day. Nothing online so on a whim I gave Cabela's a call. The sales guy who answered said they had not had one in, but could look at the computer to see what he could learn. There was one listed and was the first that had arrived, but was not yet on display. I asked him to wait till I got there to bring it out; he did and I bought it! There was no dealing on the price, it's the two-tone with night sights and I paid $550 plus tax.
Regarding the pic, nothing special, in fact I'd like to get a better lighting setup so I could shoot without glare producing flash. I shot it with a Nikon D-40 and had a polarizing filter on the lens.

To answer your question, here's a thread I started after my first range outing with it:
