I waited a year but finally ditched my Seecamps in favor of the LCR. I find it very handy to have, especially with the laser attachment. This, and a pocket holster to put it in (made to accommodate the laser) is a perfect hot-weather setup.
As far as shooting the pistol, it is about what you expect. Appropriately accurate and so far very reliable with ball ammunition, which is all I use.
A good product and highly recommended for minimal ccw.
He is asking about the LCR, I think you are talking about the LCP
I have heard favorable things about the new revolver.
I am looking forward to getting one myself.
Rumors of hot gasses etching a hole and blasting back in shooters faces after 200 rounds. I haven't read through this thread, but I believe this is a thread talking about it. RugerForum.com :: View topic - LCR Troubles

I know its slightly off subject but I have a Taurus model 85 Ultra Lite. It has a two finger grip like the LCR does. I do understand I am not the strongest guy in the world I find myself about average, and the problem I had with the two finger revolvers is shooting +p ammo out of them is not fun at all. It made it very hard for me to hold onto the small revolver. I bought a hogue 3 fingered grip for it to solve the problem. I don't know whether or not this is going to concern you but it will give you something to think about, because I don't think anyone at this time makes after market grips for it.
I have heard good things about the LCR but I would personally wait a year or so to make sure they have the bugs worked out.....because a Smith 642 or 442 "right now" will give you zero problems and has a ton of history to support that.
I have the 357 version. One of the first sold in 2010. 6k rounds through it all +p and 357. Zero issues. Still carry it in a JFrame rotation.
Only notes are:
Ugly but not as bad as a rhino. Lol
Replaceable sights. Very easy
Polymer frame not steel
Great recoil management with +p and 357
Lack of grip options compared to smith
Only 5 star and speedbeez loaders work with it. Sl variants too if you can find them.
Little bigger than j frame for pocket carry
Trigger way better BUT prone to shortstroke due to long reset. Started at around 10.25. Is at around 9.5 now
I’m an odd ball on this one. I just can’t warm up to it. My wife bought one a few years ago and then decided she no longer liked revolvers. I’ve shot it a few times and it’s decent. I will say I did not enjoy it with 357 loads in it. I’ve thought several times about getting a holster and carrying it but haven’t. I think it’s a mental thing with polymer on s revolver.
Anyhow I think my second oldest daughter is going to take it when she visits at Thanksgiving.
i don't have a precise round count but it is north of three thousand rounds of mid-range 38's and a few +p's thru my 357 LCR....does not take long at a hundred rds a month or thereabouts......but i have cut back since the beginning of 2020 when the panic/scare/riot/pandemic/political shortage began....
its taking more time....but the 327 LCR is slowly getting there...mostly with 32 H&R mags.
i don't think the LCR is superior to a Smith J frame or an SP101...each design has its own strengths and appeal....but the LCR is a decent option with its own qualities that happens to trip my trigger...
The total package is performing well and the experience is enjoyable......at least for me with the magnum frame LCR's....
I think the LCR and LCRX have the best DA trigger on something I would actually pocket carry. But they always seemed to have more snap or rise when compared to my j frames. But in 32H&R, the LCR fills a void that S&W doesn’t even seem to acknowledge. And that’s going to hurt S&W, me thinks.
I have a LCR and S&W in 22mag. Why Ruger stopped at 6 instead of 7, to match S&W, I will never understand. But the LCR barely edges out the S&W there, but I find myself carrying the j frame more since I am deep in j frame holsters and grips.
My LCR 38 is my carry gun. I've tried all the small & medium semi's and keep going back to the LCR. I like the 642 also but think the LCR is better for me.
i had/have experience with ruger lcr in various calibers:
lcr 22lr is a favorite ccw. shortstroke if rapidly fired, limit myself to successive doubletaps.
lcr 22wmr is now gone. waytoo much flashbang for too little result even with handgun specific ammo.
lcr 327 is the perfect senior’s ccw. i don’t have one but shot a cousin’s. takes ammo that is mild to wild.
lcr 38 is now gone. s&w and taurus j frames simply feel better to me.
I realize this a older thread but, since it was opened again I decided to add my opinion. When the LCR first came out we ordered them at a Gun Shop I worked. I got a 357. It shot fine, was easy to shoot accurately, and carried fine. The problem I had was when practicing quick double shots, it was to easy for me to short stroke the trigger. I didn’t have that problem with my J-Frames. I liked the J-Frames better and since I didn’t shoot 357 much, I got rid of the LCR. I think like all Rugers, it’s a good gun. The LCR just didn’t work for me.
another reason why i tend to stick with one primary carry gun.....i know and train with it well enough to get my rhythm down with it...and become accustomed to the longer trigger reset......
i had the same problem when i first went to the LCR....till i became accustomed as to how she wanted to run so i accommodated her....No problems being accustomed to the LCR now and going back to a Smith....
It's decent. The trigger is certainly better out of the box than the S&W J-Frames.
