I love my Kimbers, but if the world exploded and I had to grab only one of my EDC, it would probably be my Glock-36...
I'll give three reasons: dependability, dependability, and dependability.

"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

Glock 30, but I am really fond of my PT 145 Taurus also.
This is not an easy question to answer.
I recommend the largest caliber you are comfortable with. I prefer pistols over revolvers but that needs to be your choice.
The Sig Sauer P250 compact in .40 auto has plenty of stopping power, is concealable and is very easy to take down and clean and reassemble in about 3 minutes. There is really nothing not to like about this pistol IMO. It normally sells at a very good price point.
Often overlooked are models like the Kimber. I like a full size 5" 1911 TLE/RL II, lots of stopping power, not as easy to conceal but has the stopping power for home defense.
Also for Concealment, I recommend the Walther PPS Sub Compact in 9mm or .40. It is ultra slim and well built.
It is not a pocket gun but is very thin.

Glock 23, I own and have fired other handguns including the featherweights, but there is something about a Glock, maybe it's just that it looks like it means business...
It would be tough to choose between the Kimber Ultra CDP w/ CT grips and 22 conversion kit...or the 12 ga and a black trench coat.

For me, it would be my Glock 23. Perfect size, my favorite round, and I can shoot it very, very accurately.
