There are a couple threads already open. and a few folks have the 238 in hand.

EOD - Initial success or total failure
Hey Hope Mills. I've had one for a few weeks now and it's been a bit of a problem. Do a search for "P238 issue and resolution". I did my best to detail some problems with mine. Ultimately I think I need to have the ramp polished and all should be well. Even with these issues, let me add:
- I seem to be the only guy on the planet that has had problems w/the P238. Just my luck.
- About a year ago I bought into a Kahr P40, new and problematic. I dumped the gun. With this Sig, I'm going to have it fixed and I feel sure that I'll have a find weapon from then on. I'm gonna stick w/it.
- From a CC perspective, in the 380 caliber, I think you'll have a hard time finding a better overall package. Size, quality, accuracy.....it just works very well. Except of course.....mine.
Good luck. Oh yeah......short grips. Your wife will need to develop a reasonably sound 2 finger grip to avoid limp wristing. Very doable but that would be the most obvious obstacle that I can think of. I have seen extended mags that will fit the Sig and will allow a 3rd finger on the grip. That defeats the overall design of the gun IMO.
