My wife is now a Sig Snob ;-)
My wife is no longer interested in me for my CZ RAMI. She picked out a used Sig P239 with Hogue grips at the DC gun show this past weekend. Got a great deal, $399! This is her first gun, and now she is EXCITED about guns (as opposed to humouring me)! Went to the range yesterday, she LOVES it. After one magazine, she became much more comfy with the whole shooting thing. I guess this really shows the importance of finding the right gun.
Her P239 pros (vs. the rami): less recoil, fits her hand better, smoother trigger, easier to rack the slide
Her P239 cons (vs. the rami): likes rami sights and rami decocker better
Questions:
1) Can anybody recommend a CCW holster she could try for the Sig P239, that is good for women. She is tall and long torso.
2) She is interested in getting Crimson Trace lasergrips. However, we heard that without the Hogue grips, the P239 is "a different gun." Anybody know how the CT's compare, shape-wise, versus Hogue?
She is getting better and better at the range. Meanwhile, I am becoming a source of constant embarassment for us. The RSO gave the "hold your fire" order twice on my account during our last two vists. Once, because I got hot brass stuck *under* my safety glasses, and in the act of trying to flick it out, I flung my glasses over the line. Then yesterday, I had a new rail-mount light on my CZ Phantom (from same gunshow), which when flying off and over the line on my 2nd magazine. Boy was I red faced. I need to do research--I fear I may have indavertently purchased an Airsoft-quality light.

The 239 with Hogue grips is about the ideal 239 setup, and it looks like she got a great price! Congrats to her and tell her to enjoy...

Congrats on letting the 'boss' pick out her own SD tools.
She made a great choice, too!

Yes! Congrats to her! :) I love my P239 as well! Don't have the CT on it though, nor am I able to CC yet, so sorry...no advice. :(

This may not help you much, but here are some pics of my 239 with CT grips:
I can't compare them to Hogue grips for her, but I find them very comfortable to shoot with. Her MMV.
If she's unhappy with the sights, I'd try and find someone who has a set of TruGlo TFO sights installed on a pistol for her to look at. I put a set of these on my 9mm 239 and they are amazing.

First....get yourself a billed hat for the range and a good quality rail light will cost you at least 100 bucks. There are no timeouts in an SD situation. Congrats to your wife. My GF has narrowed down to a 239, a G26 or a Kahr PM9. She chose well.

Thanks for tips. I normally wear a ballcap and didn't that time. Lesson learned.
Should have read reviews before buying the light. This review would have deterred me: LIGHT-146 - Leapers UTG Compact Laser Flashlight Ambidextrous On Off Sw Integral Picatinny Weaver Mounting Deck. Having now bought two, I've become a bit of a "SIG snob" myself--I can relate...
That looks to be a great deal on the P239. Enjoy!

The 239 does not have a rail, but a good tactical light is a good thing to have. Congrats on the 239!
