Of these, my favorites are the Springer and the Steyr S- it's a tossup. My vote goes to the Springer due to the availability of holsters and accessories.
The Springer and Steyr are both tight, well built, accurate guns and VERY ergonomic.
Although some will tell you the 9mm isn't enough for SD, I disagree. Ballistics tests show it to be almost equal to the .40 S&W, and people have been being killed with it for decades.

I'm old school, myself. A single-action kind of guy. When I carry a 9, it's a Browning Hi-Power. 16 rounds of tack-driving accuracy and altogether reliable. Definitely not a lightweight, but very comfortable to shoot and fast on the follow-up shots. When I carry one of my BHPs, it's in a Com III from HBE, which conceals and supports quite well.
Cheers,
Rod

If you like your KelTec P-3AT, you will love their PF-9.

Glock 19 or 26 will fit the bill very nicely.

I like the Walther PPS; it's like a thin Glock.

KT PF 9 is good and I have one and the list provided a few posts back was good as well... you just need to decide your price point and what you are looking for i.e. ultra concealability, higher capacity, lightest, thinest, and where you will carry it on your body.

S&W M&P9c wCT --its been flawless since the 1st 50 rds(3ftf in 1st 50rds) and its got 1150 rounds through her now. i am very comfortable even with the grip. Its a very natural pistol for me, sights damn near perfectly line up with my eyes closed. Previous to her, I carried S&W 5906. although i always needed a sport coat to conceal her, not so with the 9c.

I have this info from Front Sight in a hand out, I carry a G26.
"3 factors determine the ouctcome of a gunfight Accuracy, Speed, and Power." Look up Hatcher Formula.
You want a cartridge that has a Hatcher value over 50 for the best stopping power.
45 ACP=60.7
44 Special=76.5
40 s&w=59.4
9mm=39.9
380auto=18.3
I really like my G26 but if I could I would get G23.
In the end of my course I think it comes down to practice, practice an more practice.

Personally I really like my Sig p250 cc. I know people have an issue with the DAO but once you get used to the long pull it is great, very smooth. I got my card about a month ago and have carried it just about everyday since.

it's a Browning Hi-Power.
Ohhh...they broke the mold with that one. The original hi-cap 9mm. Beauty!
