Anyone Carrying a Taurus Judge as their CC weapon?

This is a discussion on Anyone Carrying a Taurus Judge as their CC weapon? within the Defensive Carry Guns forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; I recall a post on another forum (glocktalk perhaps) some years ago by a gentleman that CC'd his Thunder Five... It made me chuckle, but ...

I recall a post on another forum (glocktalk perhaps) some years ago by a gentleman that CC'd his Thunder Five... It made me chuckle, but he seemed to think it was fine.

Myself, I think it makes a heck of a good car gun. Not so much to tote around on the hip.

It still bothers me that Taurus in essence copied the Thunder Five idea for the Judge and no one seems to acknowledge it...

Thanks Harley - I shoot a zillion pictures so I'm bound to get a keeper every once in a while. He's actually very friendly and very gentle unless someone messes with my wife so your chihuahuas are safe!

It's pretty much right there in the OP (see below) and in the title http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...cc-weapon.html. You don't "have" to but I'm just sayin'..... If I create a thread that said, "anyone carry a G27 daily and what do you think?" Did I ask to hear from everyone who passed on the Glock and want their opinions why they bought a 1911?

If the OP said, "anyone consider a Judge for CC? Why or why not, opinions please?" Well, that would be a whole different ball game and that's not what he asked.
Not to hijack the thread but thought some levity would be good.....here is the "keeper" pic I got of my beagle about to get walloped by the big bad wolf...they play like this all the time, it is funny...

i've heard/read all these comments before about the judge. I think it has it purpose and if you can carry it carry it. The .410 thing is a little odd to me, but I wouldn't volunteer to stand in front of it.

You are correct, I just realized how rude my reply sounded, I did not intend for it to come out that way. I've got to start proof-reading

As I was saying, I have tried a Taurus Judge. I was impressed with it on many levels, but thought it would be hard to conceal. Oops, I don't EDC one, so I guess I have nothing to offer. Please pardon the unnecessary interruption.

I've owned the Taurus Judge PD Ultra-lite for a while. Mine happens to be the lightest Public Defender ever made as far as I know. 20.7 ounces. It came with the Titanium or alloy frame. Not sure how long this lightweight model was manufactured. Mine was built in 2011. It's pretty easy to carry. I have 2 different Tagua holsters that I use. One for inside my pants and another for outside. I also have a cheap nylon shoulder holster that I use with it. Am hoping that Bianchi comes out with one of their "clamshell" shoulder holsters that are big enough to accommodate the 2.5" cylinder. I suppose it's all a matter of preference. Yes you can carry a 12-14 ounce pea-shooter. My daughter has a Baretta .380 auto that she carries and I found the best ammo for her (TXP) and looking at the ballistics gel tests I've seen with that ammo I know she's well protected and it's really no pea-shooter.

If I WAS gonna' decide to own a Judge (I haven't), it would surely read "Smith & Wesson" and "Governor". 'Cuz I'm allergic to...the "T" word.

Most all of this thread goes back 7 years to 2009 when there was not an abundance of ammo available for the Judge Public Defender. With the Federal 4 pellet .410 000 Buckshot round in the 2.5" shell and the Lehigh Defense Maximum Expansion in .45LC which were both created for the Judge and Governor I feel I have all the firepower I need. You only need to go to YouTube to witness some of the ballistics gel tests in these 2 rounds to know they are quite effective and cause massive wound channels. It's all the ammo I need and I always carry a combination of both loads. With the 20.7 oz Ultralite model in a 2" barrel and 2.5" cylinder I think the only thing lacking is an abundance of holsters for the PD's. There are a couple of Tagua models available for both inside the pants and outside the pants for this gun but I wish that Bianchi would create a clamshell style shoulder holster to add to their 9R Series of holsters.

I've shot the Taurus and S&W versions. I think they would do the "job" as well as anything else. The ones I shot put the .410 and 45 rounds pretty much where I pointed it. I can't imagine how it would not be seen as reasonable use for a self defense weapon. It is at least as much of one as any other revolver. However, you asked about it in the context of being a CC Weapon. I'm sure someone has done it, but I would not want to carry something this big and bulky for a CCW. Just too big a hunk of gun to always be wrestling with it in a concealed manner. Someone will write that this is what they carry, but then I see people posting they consider some rather large firearms as pocket carry weapons, so anything is possible.

This thread is 7+ years old, let along the revelancy of the gun itself. Do they even make those anymore?
