I saw a post on another board from a guy complaining of a crack in the slide of his G17, which is the first I have heard, and only a few thousand rounds I think.

The XD is a great platform, no doubt about it. An XD-45 is on my short list. Good 1911's can be had for far less than a top of the line Kimber though.

Only a gun writer would make the statement "Best XXX Ever!" - ESPECIALLY a relatively new item.

I remember one gun writer that stated the Rob Arms M96 to be the "Best .223 Ever!" - what a hack.

    cheers

let the xd live 100 years see if its still round then maybe just maybe but i doubt it it will have the best 45 ever .. even with 100 years its still got to take on the 200 year old 1911 and the 45 colt SAA would be well over 200

Call me then and ill tell ya what i think .. nope ill do it now no tactical tupperware will ever be better than a real gun with soul

Ya'll crack me up when you say stuff like that, because in 30 years I'll be sitting around hearing people say:

"Yeah I like the old fashioned polymer guns. These new adamantium alloys and ceramic barrels just don't have any soul. I like a nice old fashioned gun like a Glock 17."

    My 2cents,

I would put the HK USP45 Tactical way above the XD.

I'm not fond of the XD too much.

I don't know what everyone is talking about. I have the best .45 ever on my hip right now. I won't say what it is since it's not worth debating fact.
