Your Favorite J-Frame is...
I carry a Glock 31 in cold/cool weather and a Kahr CW45 in warm/hot weather.
I'm looking for a good and reliable BUG. I had first considered the Ruger LCP or LCR, but now am leaning toward the tried and true Smith & Wesson 642 with crimson trace grips.
What's your favorite J-frame revolver?

I carry a 642-P but my favorite is the S&W 640. The mechanism is simply smoother IMO on an all steel variant.

640 with 305 Crimson Trace grips - if you will carry it on the belt like I do for my primary.
340 M&P with 405 Crimson Trace grips - if it will be carried in a belly band, pocket, or under a sport coat in a "City Slicker" shoulder rig from Ken Null (like I do for my BUG).
Hard to beat a less expensive 38+p model if you don't feel the need to go .357 magnum.

My favorite, Dad's old Model 36 nickel finish that was his first handgun. It still looks as good as it did when he bought it in 1972.
Someday it will be my daughter's favorite J-frame as well.

I've been carrying my 640-1 with CTC Grips on my belt and my 637-1 in my pocket. It just beats carrying a speed loader.

S&w 442
Favorite is the S&W 442 airweight, simply because it is the only J-frame I have.
Nice little gun. I'd like to use it for ultra conceal, but I need to find the right holster rig...

One of these
I like the 2 inch barrel J frames with boot grips, either in all steel or lightweight versions, depending on how you want to carry it. The all steel handle recoil a little better.

I picked up a 642 with the crimson trace grips a couple of weeks ago and have been pocket carrying it since. It's light and comfortable and packs a punch with +P Gold Dots.
Pick one that your comfortable carrying and you shoot well.

I almost got the 642, but ultimately went with the 637 because it allows single-action as well (If I'm gonna pay that much money for a BUG, I want COMPLETE control). Now if I could only shoot it straight...
