I've been on Budsgunshop.com every day for the last, well, who knows, browsing for my next purchase. I finally decide on a G26 and today I go and most Glocks are $100 more than yesterday. A quick look over at the Taurus' shows some of the same.
I've seen this happen before with their website but it usually corrects itself.
Has anyone heard of a massive increase in gun prices at Bud's for some reason? Did I miss something on the nightly news tonight?
I bought a Beretta 92 Italian from them....and they NEVER answered any of my emails...Sooooo no more buying from them as I do expect even the most minimalist level of customer service....I ended up paying $20 more than the original price with zero response from them and still they charged me the full price.
I like window shopping at Bud's, but prefer Davidson's (Gun Genie). Yeah, it's a little more (usually around $20), but the service is excellent and you get a lifetime warranty from Davidson's themselves. The gun is usually at the dealers in two days. I've only ordered once from Bud's and I kept getting told the item was in the shipping department. It was in the shipping department for two weeks!
Update: The screenshot was taken this morning. Bud's must have been hit last night because all the prices were jacked up. They're back to normal. I just thought it was funny which is why I posted the image.
I most of the cases I encountered, no. I done some math based on a few gunbroker.com auctions. After paying some high priced shipping ($25.00) and a $20.00 to $25.00 transfer, I was about $25.00 better by buying from a local dealer.
I am not a collector and don't buy hi-dollar guns. Just the run-o-the-mill Smiths, Rugers etc. gunbroker just ain't for me.
I've purchased four guns through Bud's and was pleased with service every time.
For me the pricing is good, plus with no sales tax I save about $40 on a $600 buy! And, I have a friend with an FFL who brings them in for me at no cost.
I'd prefer to buy locally, but the service in the shops nearby is more impersonal and rude than what I've run into on the web...it's their loss.
I've bought most of my guns online and most from Davidson's (Gun Genie). The prices to me are usually better since you get a list of gun shops local to you and you pick the one you want to deal with. Some of the gun shops locally are real (!) ripoff artists. There's no haggling or anything with Davidson's; you either accept the offer or not and the process is straightforward and easy (don't forget to click Instant Quote).
I typically visit gun shows when they're in town and Davidson's has almost always beaten gun show prices by a large margin. The only time they haven't is when something was mislabeled at the show.
There are many good things about Davidson's. First, they give you a lifetime warranty on anything you buy from them. Second, their service is excellent. Third, their prices are usually pretty good, usually just $20 more than Bud's. Fourth, they have a decent selection although Bud's does have a bigger selection. Lastly, if you order during the work week, the item is usually at the dealer in two days. I ordered once from Bud's and it took more than two weeks for me to get the item. It spent two weeks just in the shipping department.
I bought an FNP-9 from Davidson's and thought the frame was cracked (I later learned it was flow marks). In any case, I contacted them and they simply said no problem, take it back to the dealer and they'd swap it out for a new one.
On another occasion, when the Obama rush was going on, I got as far as accepting an offer, but forgot my logon which slowed my processing. Being that the sale wasn't complete, someone else swooped in and got the firearm. I called Davidson's, they placed me on a waiting list and when it came back into stock, they gave me a call because they had placed one aside and wanted to know if I still wanted it. That's service!
I've only dealt with two dealer locally that I thought were any good. All the others were arrogant jerks acting as if they were doing you a favor or something rather than providing a service. That or their prices are so insanely jacked up that only a fool would buy.
