    New Stoeger Cougar

    Hi all,

I've been carrying a Beretta PX4 Storm in 9mm for the last 1-1/2 years and decided that a little more firepower might be nice. I would have bought another Storm in .40 except I'm not sure Beretta has figured out the "trigger sting" issue that I have read about on the Beretta Forum.

I'm a big Beretta fan and the Storms are awesome guns. I figured that since the Cougar is the pre-cursor to the Storm I might give it a try. I found one on sale for $350 and so I bought it and I really like this gun too.

It breaks down the same as the Storm (except release mechanism) and it's very easy to field strip and clean. After I cleaned it, I took it to the range and fired 100 rounds of Remington UMC 180gr FMJ ammo without a glitch.

I was a little worried about recoil since I have heard 40 S&W has quite a bit but that was not a problem. Perhaps the rotating barrel solves that problem (I'm not a gun expert!). I am equally accurate with the 40 as I am with the 9mm.

I'm looking forward to shooting it more and as soon as I get a new holster for it, High Noon on order, it will be my carry gun. It will be hard to leave my Storm behind but I figure that for winter time the 40 will be more practical (winter clothing).

That's a great gun. I nearly bought one a while back, but the deal fell through. Congrats!

Nice pistol! I looked for one after it was profiled in a magazine with an MSRP of $329 (2007). Gander Mountain (Lake Mary, FL) had one in stock for $489! I didn't buy one. You did very well - enjoy!
