    Springfield, PLEASE make this!

I was playing around with some image manipulation earlier and came up with this. I call it the "Super Sub XD."

    .45 ACP

    Single-stack

    6+1 capacity

    Manual thumb safety

    Small enough for pocket carry

I *almost* posted it as a real pistol, then linked to an "April Fool" page, but I'm not that cruel.

    Seriously, this would rock!

I doubt you'd get much power with a .45 out of a 2" barrel. Nice work though!

Not to nit-pick but, odd that a .45 says 9X19 on the side....

    This is fun.

You might as well keep working on the image to take the rail off because it will not work. Also get rid of a few ounces from the top.

You will need to send this to Croatia because this is where the DX is made.

A solid pistol for the money but not my choice. I own a DX SC and many others that I prefer over this model.

Nice work. Would you want to contour the sights a little more for pocket carry so that they're snag-free?

    45 ACP

    Single-stack
Given that they're not making a subcompact .45 because of the (so I read, Internet gunboard hearsay, YMMV) recoil spring engineering problems, I doubt this would ever see the light of day.

    Maybe in .380?

No matter how short you make the barrel and grip it will still be a thick block.

Im thinking maybe just get a PM45.

Springer! I would lower the bore axis on it if you can.

Folks, a caveat..... Keep in mind that this would be strictly a self defense pistol. You won't be driving tacks with it at 50 yards or shooting it in competitions. The idea, or at least to me, is a .45 caliber counterpart to the LCP; small enough for pocket carry or deep concealment, but with plenty of knockout power. It could also be an excellent BUG.

Exactly! This would be a "point and shoot" gun. The sight radius would be two small to even need a three dot sight. I would opt for shotgun style sights (i.e a bead in front w/ a grove in the rear).

Bore axis is the distance from the centerline of your barrel to the top of your shooting grip. You would want to keep that distance as small as possible, but still maintain enough "meat" on your frame for integrity.

Two examples i can think of for a high axis are; XD pistols and the Walther PPS. For low axis would be all Glocks and, really low, the Hk P7.

The lower the axis the less "snappy" the recoil is. It also gives you better control on target reacquisition.

That is my broad description of bore axis.
