CCW for my Lady friend?? 9mm??

Hello all.... Took my Lady friend to the range today for her very first time ever shooting. She has shot a shotgun before but never a handgun. I brought along with me my .45 and a 9mm and a .22 cal. She didn't like the .45 as it was to way to much for her, however she really liked the 9mm. As she stated the .22 was not enough. With the 9mm in hand off she went! The 1st mag was not good as far as accuracy but really comfortable for her. She fired off 100 rounds altogether and was quite pleased with her 1st experience with a handgun. I was a little surprised how her accuracy was getting towards the end of her 100 rounds. She had nice groupings on the targets and now wants to purchase one. She needs help on choosing a CCW. What do you all recommend? Should she go with a pistol or a revolver? Should she stick with a 9mm or try others 1st? Thanks for replys!

If she likes 9mm, dont try to talk her out of it. Its a perfectly good, effective choice. As for pistol vs. revolver, or specific makes/models, thats entirely personal preference.

The 9mm is a solid choice and there is nothing wrong with it. For the first handgun I usually recommend a .357 revolver. Its a solid platform. If the .357 is to much there is always the choice of 38 special. And, its low maintenance.

    Good Luck

I recommend that if she likes the 9mm she try shooting as many different ones as she can, until she finds the one she likes best.

What 9mm's did she shoot with you? The same models might be the best for her if she is comfortable with them...

Let her try a Sig P239.

She won't settle for anything less.

9mm, bingo, we have another winner...get her to the gun shop and let her pick out her own choice of 9mm weapon...hope it's a Glock-26.

We had a P89 and I liked it too, but it's way too big for female CC. The first gun I bought for myself was a Glock 19 and it is still very near and dear to me and and often my carry gun. (It lost it's #1 place in my heart to a Browning Hi Power, also 9mm)

    Candidates

Given that she likes the 9mm I would stick with that caliber and try to find her a gun that she likes. In terms of specific candidates, I would personally look at:

    1. Sig P239
    2. Walther PPS
    3. H&K P2000sk
    4. Kahr K9
    5. S&W 3913

These are all high quality 9mm guns with grips small enough to fit the average woman's hand. The only one of the above that I own is the Sig, which I can recommend highly:

My g/f enjoys my XD9sc... Nothing wrong with a 9mm if she's comfortable with it... cheap ammo = more practice rounds = better accuracy. (IMO of course)
