Yea, I concur with the prevailing attitudes -- wood is so much nicer than the alumagrips. I put Sarge's on my EMP, and have never looked back.

    Very nice pistol there!

Not sure of any advantage of alumagrips---

I used them before I bought the wood ones from Sarge and have never looked back - There is no substitute for the feel of wood!

I read where the early model defenders had a bad habit of throwing the brass right back at your forehead. Has this been fixed with the newer models? I'm putting one of these on my Christmas list!!!!!

    Well, not totally

Around every 20-30 rounds, I can count on one coming back at my forehead. Has actually drawn blood on two occaisions. That's my only dislike about this gun. Thankfully, I have a very hard head - Just ask my wife!!

Take it to a competent gunsmith and have the extractor tuned, that will alleviate your problem.

Any compelling reason to do this other than less forehead wounds. No harm to the gun as far as I can figure?? What are your thoughts?? I'm alwasys stuck on the take it to a competant 1911smith part - How do I know who is competant??

Jem - No doubt Sarge makes great feeling grips that are excellent looking as well.

My SIS PRO smacks me right at the hair line once and awhile with no apparent reason but the gun works so darn well I am not going to mess with it.
