No, I agree you are not gettin an Ed Brown, but I think he was saying how nice the fit and finish is on the DW. The DW's are one of the nicest production type 1911's on the market and they do use several Ed Brown parts no MIM parts.

the non ed brown parts in DW's are cast. which is no better than the best MIM parts (springfield armory for example).

DW's advertising "no MIM parts" is nothing more than a marketing scheme.

i've got a couple springfields, and a para. and never had an issue with any MIM parts, my friend :) (they're on page 13, post #121 of this thread)

if they're done with quality, durability is not a problem, and it keeps production costs down (save us some money ).

i'm not saying MIM is the same as machined from bar stock, it isn't.

but the kind of round count you need to fire through your guns to see the durability difference between quality MIM and bar stock machined parts is something only high volume competitive shooters will ever see.

the ed brown parts on DW's: main spring housing, grip safety, thumb safety, slide stop lever. (the triggers were chip McCormick last year, not sure if they still are).

all other parts in DW's are cast, not machined from bar stock.

this is true, to a point.

The higher-end custom makers (Wilson, Ed Brown, etc.) will normally use forged slides and frames with either cast, MIM, or forged steel small parts as the price point requires.

Yep. it's no different with Dan Wesson or Ed Brown.

incorrect, my friend. if buy an ed brown, you get their "hardcore" parts:

For positive, last round engagement and tighter, longer-lasting lockup with custom barrels. Attractive grooves for positive, non-slip application. Made from hardened tool steel for increased wear. Will fit all 1911 pistols High-Capacity types. The Hardcore® slide stop is guaranteed for life against breakage.
