Wanting a LCR....question?
Hello gang.....I'm wanting to buy a LCR but can't get one until I sell something. Wife says I have too many "toys" now. I'm looking at selling my Smith & Wesson .38 special w/4'' barrell. I bought it new about 25 years ago but is like brand new. Probably had no more than 100 rounds through it. Not a scratch on it. Anybody have a guess of what I could get for this gun?

Well I would guess that it will hold more of it's value over time than the LCR will. If you sell it give it another 25 years and compare the value of your 25 year LCR to the 50 year old S&W that you sold. I have plastic guns but I don't expect them to hold value like steel does.

I agree with what you are saying Stevew and I love the gun but what I'm looking at is something more concealable (size & weight)than the S&W that I have. Thanks for your input!

Don't do the trade, seriously. The LCR is reasonably inexpensive. You'll regret not just saving up for it.

I guess you can't get rid of the wife and keep the S&W?

Is the S&W the only thing you can sell? I personally would never sell an old S&W for a polymer revolver. If its a matter of having to just get "rid" of something to get a new carry revolver, do you have an old shotgun, hunting rifle, vehicle, atv, velvet elvis, other handgun that you could sell?
keep the old smith, have it re-barreled to 2" if possible. Value will go down but build quality will always be there.

I vote for saving up a little $$ and keep it a secret. She will never know. They don't cost that much seriously.

From my words and being a wholesaler in the sporting goods division,KEEP THE SMITH AND STILL GET THE RUGER LCR. YOU WILL THANK US SOMEDAY. The Lcr is new to the market the past year but you never know when you might need to have the Smith revolver incase something,GOD FORGIVE happens to the LCR. richgp100z

Thanks guys for the info and the advice. You've pretty much made up my mind to keep the S&W.

I looked on the gun and all I see on it is .38 special CTG. Does that tell you anything?
And Sixto.......I think I'll keep the wife and the S&W:) I've had them both for about 29 years.

Buy two LCRs, give one to your wife and tell her you want to include her more in your hobbies! Whats she going to say....she dosn't want to spend more time with you? After a month or so you will have one for the left and the right pocket!
