My carry rotation is a S&W 442, Ruger SP101 and Springfield XD40 SC. Just saw a Colt Gov't. Commander and am looking for a reason to resist buying it.
Thank you for any assistance.

Heck if you got the cash...but why the subject of the thread? Are you planning on trading the XD for it? I'd keep the XD for sure!
Definitely keeping the XD either way. It's my favorite out of about 20+ that I've tried.

Two completely different guns. The XD is a solid performer and I would never say no to putting a new Pony in the stable! Go with BOTH!

Commander sized guns are much more balanced than the Gov't model IMO... I'd say go for it... Everyone should have at least one 1911...

Own and carry both the Gov't Model and Combat Commander. Just Love that Commander, but the 5" is one Bad Ass Gun. I carry the Commander due to its size / Bbl. lenghth, also had the ejection port lowered and trigger work.....it's nice.
I'd take the Commander over the XD...but, I've never met an XD that I particularly like, either.

My first center fire semi auto was a XD40SC. I sold it and tried a M&P 9mm which I liked and shot better than the XD and then picked up a CZ Compact 9mm and sold the M&P. After owning several semi-autos looking for the pistol that was best for me, I ended up with 1911's.
I had a Springfield LW Champion and full size loaded but sold both and bought a D.W. CBOB (and a STI 9mm Trojan and Kimber UC ll). I do like the commander sized pistols and found that I shoot the 1911 platform the best. Of the three, the CBOB is probably my favorite but I shoot the Trojan 9mm more so my lead supply will last much longer. The Trojan is my plate shooting gun.
Like the previous poster said, everyone should own at least one 1911.![]()

Commanders are great..own 5 of them. 2 of which are LW commanders...
Got one at the 4:00 iwb right now......very easy to carry.
Hold on to the XD and buy the commander to add to the collection..you will be glad you did!![]()
