Hooray! It's a CZ! (...and a question!)
I have officially added--via a gun show deal!--a CZ P-06 to my carry rotation!
First, some gun porn starring what I think is a fantastic firearm:

DSCF0084-2.jpg
I really enjoyed shooting this .40, possibly even more than my Glock 23 (jury's still out)! I've put something like 300 rounds through it so far with only 2 'failure to feed' when shooting bagged ammo I bought from the same gun show--last time I do that--where I bought this CZ. I have had no issues whatsoever with my new carry ammo (HST's) or Federal range ammo.
Possibly most important of all, I feel more accurate with this firearm than my Glock-- barely need to pull the trigger to fire in SA!
And this is also my first exposure to night sights (uh, no pun intended) and I'm kinda diggin' em:
DSCF0002.JPG
Now, a quick question for those already in the CZ 'know'
:
This firearm has a decocker lever, thus the three positions the hammer can be in are: DA/SA/half-cock action. In the pictures you can see DA then SA; half-cock action puts the hammer about 60-75% toward the DA position from full SA mode.
From a quick search on the forum, I found this written by Cloudpeak on another thread:
To clarify: On DA/SA CZ's, you can manually lower the hammer (on a live round. Practice doing this with an empty pistol and be safe) and then fire the pistol double action for the first shot. It's a long, heavy double action. The safety can't (and doesn't need to be) engaged when you do this. All following shots are single action. Or, you can carry with the hammer back and the safety engaged as you would a 1911.
With this post (and practicing it unloaded), I'm fairly confident I can lower the hammer to full DA position without the round being fired. But I'd like to have the general CZ crowd help prevent me from wrecking my so-far-clean accidental discharge record. Also, I'm pretty sure I'd break a couple fingers in the process if that slide ran through them, and that'd be no fun at all. So can the hammer be manually lowered to the DA position from the SA position safely, or am I risking phalanges?
Thanks for the help guys and gals

The passage you reference is for non -decock models. DO NOT use this on decocker CZ's
Use your decocker and carry it hammer down that way with no worries.

I have a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow. The Shadow is a DA/SA that also has half-cock position (check CZ-USA -> CZ 75 SP01 Shadow Target ). When I carry the pistol I do it cocked and locked like a 1911. The Shadow is one of my home guns now, and it is always cocked and locked. Sometimes I have chambered the pistol and lowered the hammer by hand, and then the first shot was in DA, but I do not see any reason for doing that (I always use it in SA). I never handled a P06, but with mine I can do – and I do – exactly what the text you quoted states, and I never have had any problems. Like the quotation says, before practicing lowering the hammer by hand make sure the pistol is unloaded and point to a safe place. Do not try to do it with a live round in the chamber until you are 110 % sure that you know how to do it. And even then, point to a safe place when doing it.

Safety?
The P-06 has a decocker but no safety. I would not carry it fully cocked. As far as lowering the hammer on a live round why would you want to... that is what the decocker is there for.
Stay Safe,

Thanks for posting pics and some info about how this gun has performed. I have looked at a few of these at gun shows and I must admit, I am very drawn to it for some reason. I really like the feel of it in my hand.
Now I think I want one even more after hearing haw well you like yours. My wife will not thank you.

The P-06 is my EDC gun. It is a decocker model and does not have a manual safety. DO NOT attempt to carry this gun with the hammer cocked!
While the hammer can be lowered manually, that is not how the gun was intended to be carried. Once a round is in the chamber just depress the decocker lever and let the hammer ride in the half cock position. Your trigger pull will be heavier than single action, but lighter than double action.
You've purchased a well designed and well built gun. One that will give you a lifetime of service.

Can you please be more specific about that you said concerning how the hammer works in the P06? I am not questioning what you said, I am just curious and want to know.

Your SP01 is a DA/SA pistol with a safety lever, the P-06 does not have a safety lever, it has a decocker lever. The decocker lever, when depressed, allows the hammer to safely drop to the half cock position. Since the trigger is not actuated, the firing pin safety is still engaged, keeping the gun from firing.
Hope that answers your question.

Congrats on your new CZ. I really like the looks of that firearm.

Thanks for the info everyone, I'm comfortable carrying it in half-cock position and am really happy to pass along the CZ interest to others here on DC!
Thinking I'd better get a good holster and wooden grips now, I'm taking a look at a marschal grip.

I have two CZ decockers. A SP-01 tactical, and a Rami BD. Neither has a safety.
I see no reason not to lower the hammer to the "half-cock" position using the decock lever, and carry it that way. Hammer is not resting on the firing pin, and is still DA.

Thanks for the pics and all of the info (shared by you and others). My next purchase will be a .40 and I've been torn with which one. I need to check CZ out. How does this gun's size and weight compare to the Glock 23?
