If a 9mm is too small for you, how comes that the minimum you would carry for personal defense is a .38 +P ?
    I am confused.

I can see his point. While there's not much difference between the two in effectiveness, I actually rate the .38 Special +P 158 grain loads ahead of the 9mm. It's not a popular notion and may not be correct but it's my view after personal observations. I like the weight of the .38 Special bullet better than the 9mm's velocity edge.

    I agree.

The smallest and lightest gun I will shoot .357 Magnum out of is my 2 1/4" SP101.

This bit of news doesn't appear to have been posted on Defensive Carry yet.

What do you guys think of the Ruger LCR chambered for the .357 Magnum.

That ought to rattle the fillings in one's teeth!

My wife and I went shooting today and tried out the Smith & Wesson Model 642 with a Tyler T-Grip. The T-Grip offered a real improvement for control but the +P 158 grain ammo was a bit of a chore to shoot. I'm not much in the mood for ultra-light .357 Magnum revolvers just now.

seems like an LCR 9mm +P rated with moon clips would be a lot more popular. i would like that more at least :)

well now i know what i'm going to get next..was considering the lcr as one of the next purchases as my p238 works fine but i still feel lacking for some reason. kinda regret getting the p238 over the lcr in the first place but @ the time it fit better in my pocket. now that ruger is coming out with lcr in .357 i'm sold. I'll also be one of the "nut jobs" that will be shooting full .357 mag reloads out of it. I do that now with my security six even when i do an IDPA match its full loads. makes for a real fun time, wakes everyone up too :-D

    great news to me!!!!

As of this moment it is still rumor. I been following the same discussion at the Ruger forum and nothing has been officially announced about it. It would suprise me less to see them do the .327 in it though.

    Interesting. Very interesting.

I think I'd buy that one for sure.

Like any lightweight snubby chambered for .357 mag. - I think it sucks. You'd better aim good and hope for a one shot stop, cause you ain't gonna want to shoot it twice!

I completely agree. I bet they could have made it a 6-shot too. I'd love to see the LCR or a J-frame with a fully shrouded hammer in 327. As soon as some one makes one, I'll buy it.

I think Ruger has the small .357 market pretty well covered with the SP101. Sure, it's a lot heavier than the new polymer frame .38, but as most S&W AirWeight owners have learned, a light weight .357 is quite punishing, and I bet you 99% of them shoot nothing hotter than .38+Ps. I figure most .357 LCRs will be loaded with .38s after the first trip to the range.

Also, the SP101 can produce serious blunt force trauma if you run out of ammo. Not possible with a polymer frame revolver.

Did anyone find any more info on this? I saw nothing about the 2010 SHOT show re:357 LCR..
