I just shot an Officers, steel version, matte finish .45 acp and while it is heavy, the heaviness helped with follow up shots. The gun has had some nice refinements (trijicon, Kings match bushing, McCormick trigger, beveled mag well, lowered ejection port. trigger job) and the owner is asking $450. Is this the money on the gun? I have been shooting Glocks - hard not to think about a G30 given the capacity/weight comparison.
I have the exact same officers and I had to pay to have all those bells and whistles done to mine, sounds like you are good to go.
I would get it now before he changes his mind or we find him first.
Cool - you got one heck of a deal! I have a stainless version all stock that I have had for about 20 years and I still love to shoot it - No problems with it either.
I have a FIRST year Colt OM Series 80(purcahsed new in '85). I paid good cash for visits to Bill Wilson,Richard Heinie and finally, for a new spring & guide-rod setup to EGW(Evolution Gun Works). Sounds like this pistol is "good to go" right now and that's a great price. Make the move. Good Luck!
I just bought a Colt Combat Commander for almost 1000.00 without all the bells and whistles,A friend had a Colt Mark IV ss Officers given to him by his dad,If your has the colt recoil spring plug,I would recommend you change it,my friends plug shot out at the range after less than 200 rounds and it was his dads carry gun when he was an LEO,I replaced it with a wilson combat Plug recoil spring and FLGR
Congratulations on your purchase. If presented with that opportunity, my only thought would be how long it would take for me to get the money out of my bank account.
I had one (still do) when they were new and was going to carry it for off-duty use. Had it all fixed up and finished in a nice slick black teflon stuff. Then I shot it for qualification. About round 100, the plug flew out the front and never did find it. That tiny little retaining stud had sheared off as is too common for reliablility. I never did carry it after that to bet my life on. I would not carry it without the King's plug mod which I may get around to one day. My life was worth more that the "cool" gun. I went back to my full size 70 series Colt.

Look into EGW for that issue, they do nice work and use quality parts and ISMI springs. My OM works well, even cycles the famous CCI "Flying Ashtrays"(200gr JHP)without issue. Good Luck!
I posted this on another thread: I have bought several great gems at pawn shops. I have a colt officers model that I paid $225 for. It was some LEO's and been carried A LOT. The grip on the right side (outside) was all scared up and the front sight was lose. A $15 dollar set of grips, and $65 getting it refinish at a pro-gunshop, (they restaking the front sight for free). And I had a brand new looking Colt 45 that I was offered $750 for a week later.
When I got it I had the plug replaced first thing. Vandenberg Custon in Houston did it over with all the bells and all I would ever want a little at a time. If I had to replace it now it would cost about 2k. It is my most carried pistol off duty and lives a very hard life, I get it refinished about every five years. I have never qualified less than 90% with it, and will be the last pistol I ever let go, I guess next to a 1911 my dad gave me back in the 60's.
