Owners of Sig 229SAS Talk to me(updated 5-23)

What all can you tell me about this Pistol looks like it only comes in 40cal anyone tried the 357 sig barrel in it ?

Sig is actually makes some guns i like being a left hander now so I'm thinking of getting a 357 sig again

Suppose i could just get a 229 with Dak trigger but i might be interested in carrying it so why not go all out

Also if any of you also have a glock be it a 22 17 or 21 and can post a pic of the 2 overlaid i would appreciate it

I have a 229SAS. Being a 1911 guy it's hard to love the DAK trigger. It took me several trips to the range and a lot of ammo to figure the trigger out.
After the first trip to the range, I took the pretty wood grips off of it and installed standard 229 factory grips. The wood grips made the gun way too fat, and, I have fairly large hands.
If I didn't like Sig so much I would not have been so determined to master this gun. It was at least my 4th range trip before I actually started enjoying the gun.
Now, I think it's great but I didn't feel that way about it right out of the box.

The DAK trigger feels nothing like a Glock trigger. The DAK pull is twice as far and there's tension during the entire pull. It's more like a DA revolver trigger.

Tonight or tomorrow I'll get you a picture of my SAS next to my 17 and 21 for size comparison.

    Thanks i appreciate it

The long trigger is it like a smooth da revolver trigger? something you would enjoy to shoot or just a long trigger that you have to fight to shoot

I have one that I aquired recently and have no problem with it. It's super accurate and the trigger is very nice. It's about a 6.5lb pull, but is extremely smooth with a nice crisp break. I expected not to like it because of the DAO (being that I'm also a 1911 guy), but the light pull make for an excellent shooter.

I like the wood grips and can handle them fine, but I'm considering taking them off also to fit some standard 229 grips to it. Mainly I'd just like to see how it feels in comparison. I hate it though, since the wood grips are so pretty.

Here are a few pictures I took for comparison this morning. SAS with standard 229 grips, Glock 29, 23, 22 and 21.

    Just for fun:

I really prefer my P229SA/DA over the DAK or SAO pistols. The .357SIG has a big more recoil than a .40S&W and you can switch the barrel out and either will work, same mags. I really strongly recommend a tungsten guide rod to help compenstate for some of the recoil. Shooting a .40S&W out of my P229 with a tungsten guide rod is like shooting a 9mm, or maybe even lighter than that. It makes the .357SIG re-acquire about the same as a .40S&W.

I'd say that's about right. The Sig is thicker though.
