I'd like to see a .45 in a Keltec

This is a discussion on I'd like to see a .45 in a Keltec within the Defensive Carry Guns forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; What do you say? Wouldn't that be an awesome pocket pistol? Maybe someone who works for Keltec or has some pull could get them to ...

    I'd like to see a .45 in a Keltec

What do you say? Wouldn't that be an awesome pocket pistol? Maybe someone who works for Keltec or has some pull could get them to make one. I'd be willing to buy a keltec in a .45 as that is my round of choice.

If they'd take the PF-9 and chamber it for .45 ACP.... I'd be all over that. I love subcompact single-stack pistols. I like my PF-9, but would like one in .45 even better.

They tried a .40 version of the P11, but it was unreliable, IIRC. Too much recoil in too light of a pistol. Model was discontinued.

Be careful what you wish for! A small pistol in .45 would have limited ammo capacity. It'd likely be a handful to shoot, and follow-up shots would be difficult. 9mm is fine, especially in that platform.
The more good folks carry guns, the fewer shots the crazies can get off.

    Agreed.

doood, I have an all stainless AMT BackUp in .45, and it is pretty darn mean, hot loads in mine will flat hurt your wrist. I don't think you would want to shoot a light little gun like a KelTec in .45......

I had an AMT Back Up 45, and ended up not liking it. Mine was a Jam-O-Matic. But yes, it bucked badly with 230gr Double Tap.

I also had a PM-45. It was a much nicer pistol. No, make that MUCH nicer. Recoil wasn't as bad as the AMT. It had just a smidge more to grip on to, and a more rounded feel to the grip. But again, with 230gr Double Tap, it bucked pretty hard.

A KelTec priced PM-45 competitor would sell like MAD!!!

My PF9's recoil with +P is stiff and I wonder about that size and weight pistol in 45 cal.

My rationale for wanting a pocket pistol in a .45 is that I carry a RIA 1911 and don't want to buy a main carry weapon and a BUG in the same caliber when i have already a .45. I know that glock has a subcompact in a .45 but don't really want to spend that kind of coin...also I like the way the Keltecs look. I also know that the keltec would buck like a bronco but as a BUG or a pocket pistol I wouldn't be shooting anything past 7-10 yards anyway.

Anyway just me thinking out loud...err typing.

I would love to have a Detonics Combat Master myself, and if Keltec came out with something like that with a DAO trigger I'd have to give it a serious look.

    Check out the Taurus PT-745
Striker fired single stack sub compact 45 with 1911 type controls (safety, and mag release). Very small and well reviewed.

    They also now have a
    740 (40 cal)
    709 (9mm)
    708 (380)

Seems to be a good formula, and a gun for everyones favorite ammo :)
the 40 and 380 are part of their new 2010 guns

Design wise it would really not be feasable for Kel Tec to make a .45acp, especially at the price point (low end) they sell their handguns. Could they, yes but highly unlikely.

I'd be afraid it would break apart at the seams.
